J Zac Construction Stole our money and did not do any of the work Jamaica, New York

We hired J Zac Construction in July of 2008 to put an addition on our home and finish a partially finished basement.  Wayne Thomas the sales person was the person we were dealing with.   J Zac never got a permit for the work.  Our basement was gutted, a trench was dug outside the house where the extension was suppossed to go.  Work was done very sporatacially.  Wayne kept requesting more and more money everytime something was started.  Wayne offered us a percentage off the job if we prepaid some of the money so he could buy supplies in bulk which we did.  A kitchen cabinet set was also supposedly ordered and paid for.  We have found 7 other families scammed by this person.  J Zac is owned by John Zaccheo.   We got off fairly well.  We know of three other families whose homes were completely taken down to the foundation and then abandoned.  We are all out Hundreds of Thousand dollars.  John is claiming he was also a victim but we know that he dealt directly with one of the families left homeless.

We have hired an attorney but it looks like they have done this before and there is no money.  All of us hard working families out of all of this money.  The district attorney is dragging his heels and the investigator is sympathetic to the owner of the construction company.

There is no justice in this at all.  We have tried to go the the media, two families were filmed for "Shame on you" and it never aired.  Newspapers and other news media have just ignored our appeal for help.

The Dept of Consumer affairs cannot step in while we have a case in court.  So here we all sit, paying off our mortgages, paying for repairs and rebuilding our homes with no recourse.

There is no justice in this for us.  I just want to prevent someone else from suffering like we have suffered.

Wayne Thomas bounces from company to company.  He is a bad person and should never be given money by anybody!!
