I thought I did my homework,I was wrong.  I went to San Antonio to Jackie Keith who advertised the horse I bought as; "Broke, broke, broke! He's been riding on trails for years etc. safe for anyone to ride"

I should have turned around when I got there, but I had come so far (from California). He has a small round pen with a ring around it to test the horse! You can't even turn the horse in this little isle way . There is no area or other area to ride and really see how the horse rides. This set up, almost any horse would trot in a circle surrounded by round pen panels.

so I buy the horse, he arrives,he's adorable,I'm in love.  I spent the first two weeks letting him settle in,get used to me and his new surroundings. I saddle up ,go into the arena, mount and 5 steps at a walk and he blows hell bent for election down the full length of the arena,no I could not stop him. Then threw me into the solid fence of the arena. I don't ride with spurs,I was sitting there ,walking. No precipitating event, like getting kicked in the flank or anything of the kind.

Jackie Keith knew I was an older rider returning to riding and handicapped to boot and I needed a good solid trail horse, calm and easy going. That is the opposite of what i got.  This horse is hot,, it seems obvious he was used for speed events as this tendency to bolt happens every time he enters an arena.

I was lied to, the horse was NOTHING like advertised . Yes we could have exchanged him,but what for? If the man is a liar the next horse might throw its self over backwards and get me killed instead of banged up a bit. He'll still tell you it's broke ,broke ,broke.

he needs to be put out of business . Buyer beware of Jackie Keith.

The Person with the rebuttal actually did ask good questions.  They saddled him before I arrived. He  looked appropriately groomed. No tie down, no martingale, no spurs, no severe bit.  I had limited time, I had to fly to texas and see him. I''ve had livestock and also a registered nurse and he seemed in good health, fair feet, terrible teeth (I took care of that 3 weeks after he arrived giving him time to know us before having them done), He had shiny coat, a little thin but not significantly so. He had bright eyes and had energy. I did not feel the need for a vet check. In the past I have or haven"t done a vet check unless I see a reason to do so. Yes, I rode him once in this TUBE you have to ride in at this mans place.  The Point is : the ad said he was a trail horse, broke, broke, broke,. anyone can ride, good family horse ,kid safe!  KID SAFE? Im so glad it was me and not a child that got hurt. Now after 2 years of caring and natural horsemanship training, he's come into his own and we feel he is safe to sell. One thing I can promise you that he will be sold with complete integrity, for who he really is and is not. And you can be darn sure he will go to a good home.

Wrong with this story.  First you rode the horse ONCE!  Did you have the horse vet checked??

Second you saddled this horse without lunging him/her??? Did you check your saddle pad for burrs or other irritants?  Was the horse used to a back girth if you used one? Breast collar? Tie Down? What about the bit you used? Did you spend time bonding with the horse after a long trailer ride?

Third - if you are "handicapped" how did you manage to drive the distance and ride the horse??? I have ridden and purchased many horses in my life and the only horse that bucked me was the one I put a running martingale on through the cinch holes.  MY FAULT! And NO I do not work for this person
