October 6, 2008 Our Clopay Garage Doors were installed on 8/22/08. Problems with the doors were noted on paperwork at installation. We understood someone would get in touch with us about the problems, but they didn't. We contacted Home Depot and were told several times a rep for Clopay would come look at the doors, but he didn't.
My husband, myself, and Home Depot started contacting Clopay and Jacobs Overhead Doors directly. They have refused to do anything saying we have to produce pictures so they can see if it is "Warranty". The 2 doors were installed incorrectly and the vertical bar that is in the center of the "carriage house" doors doesn't line up at all. It looks like a jig saw puzzle that a 2 year old put together.
The district installation manager for Home Depot was the only person that would respond and he took pictures of the doors. He noted that they had manufacturing AND installation problems. My husband had to go to Jacobs Overhead Doors on Telge where we showed them the pictures in person, but they subcontract the installation because they don't have installers. Still they are doing nothing!
DO NOT buy Clopay Garage Doors and DO NOT use Jacobs Overhead Doors in Cypress, TX! It won't be worth the headache!

Problem with Installer OR the Manufacturer?

In reading your comments, it appears that there was an installation issue vs. a manufacturer issue with the door. I think that a bit more research should be done when considering WHO to have install your garage door, as well as WHERE it is coming from (ie: manufacturer). I have done much research on the Clopay product and found that it is the best garage door manufacturer out there and they do have one of the best product warranties available. So, word to the wise shopper, just do your research and if you are not happy with the final installed product, take a deep breath and then make the phone call to the installation company to advise them of your issues. It may be something simple, or it could be something that was a manufacturering issue, which Clopay would take care of. Good Luck on your research.

The individual in this case may have contacted other companies numberous times but Jacobs Overhead Doors was email the pictures on 10/06/08. Our policy is to write notes on all calls that come in for that address. We do not have any notes that they state was written on the original order. I'd like to see that. The only notes that we have written for this was on 10/6/08. Our service tech was sent out on 10/07/08 and corrected the problem. We have been in business for over 18 years and always respond to any complaint usually within 2 days of the call. We would like to have this removed from our record. The problem has been corrected and we did the repair in a timely manner.
