In todays corporate environment, trust is one of the most crucial aspects of
building a business relationship and conducting transactions.

Despite the fact that many relationships are established based upon someones credentials, or the price of their services, the reason these relationships are maintained is due to the rapport established between the two parties.

As with anything else, once this trust has been breached, it can be difficult for thetwo parties to continue working with one another.

While it is often the employer or client who has to be wary in business dealings, sometimes the employer or contractor has to be careful as well, to ensure that the client does not take advantage of their services.  A recent example of this is an issue that arose with a company named TCPS Worldwide, where they had contracted internet marketing services from Essential Services, with the understanding that the project would cost approximately $250USD.

After the agreed-upon work was provided, the contractor did not receive any communication from the client for almost two months.

The contractor was eventually able to make contact with the owner of the business, James Claggion, who acknowledged the work and promised that the payment would be made, but the sum was never delivered.

A few weeks later, the contractor received communication from the client to indicate that all work
should be stopped until later in the year, and all future contact attempts from the contractor were ignored.

This means that the contractor loses not only the funds that were agreed upon as payment for the project, but he is also out any expenses that he incurred during the projects completion, and may have missed out on other paying projects during the interim.

It is situations like this that cause contractors to be wary of the companies with which they choose to do business.

A referral or positive word-of-mouth recommendation is not always enough to ensure that both parties will have a positive experience; many people are aware of the buyer beware concept, and the idea that employers and clients have to contract a reputable entity to complete work for them, but what many people dont realize is that it is also just as important for employees and hired
contractors to make sure they are working with a reliable and reputable company.
