I went to work for this plumber. He took me under his wing and seemed like the greatest guy. A while later, he found out that I had money in savings and that I was looking for a house. He took me to one of his abandominioms and laid out a huge sales pitch, telling me he would put all new fixtures into it and appliances and the whole nine yards. He seemed really hurried to get a deposit. Like a dummy I let him talk me into wiring him 6 thousand dollars for a downpayment. he was calling it a land contract. with an agreement that he would take payments out of my paycheck till it was paid off. just as he called the bank 2 hours after I ordered the funds transfer to make sure his new cash flow has been recieved, he looks at me and says, oh I may have forgot to tell you that there are no refunds here. If you dont take the house, you dont get any money back.
Anyway, I never got an actual contract on paper. He never fixed up the place the way he promised. I never got a house. I never got anything. I filed a police report and they refused to do anyting about it. This is a theft by deception and the courts wont prosecute. they told me to go to civil court and I looked into it, I learned that this guy is being sued by everyone under the sun. I am sick over this and I am living in a homeless program after this guy ripped me off.
UPDATE: I just learned that he had been using my DOT OQ number to run his gasline work. The gas company wont accept his cause if his horrible work performed in the past. You should see what this guy has done to his customers.

Old Durkin is still going. He added an "S" to the end of his company name. Probably so that people cannot search out the endless list of lawsuits against him that he hasnt paid for. Anyway, I heard he is practicing in Dayton Ohio now. And even more interesting, he is going around gloating about some finance company giving his company a Million Dollars. Its a Collection Agencies dream!! I still havnt gotton any response on my six grand, other than him saying "I am Not paying. I dont expect to from him. When the lawsuits pile up in Dayton, he will pick up and move somewhere else.
One day we were doing a waterline in Rootstown. We rented a backhoe. there was no curb valve. Jimmy had more important things to do on his "batphone" (like preparing more customers for the take) to "call before you dig". anyway, we dug the trench and got to the road but found no water mainline. Durkin got impatient and said "We gotta get r done" jumped on the backhoe and started digging like he knew what he was doing. all the sudden Pow. I flew off the dirtpile onto the pavement slicing my hands wide open and breaking my glasses. I turned around to hear the loud sound of GAS blowing from the hole in the ground. sounded like a freight train. There was Durkin sitting on the backhoe with a Newport cigerette hanging from his lip with a look on his face that was like a deer in the headlights. all the sudden his sugar was acting up. His sugar was always acting up when bad things happened. I was left at the scene bleeding and having to deal with the cars passing by and the gas company to come up with some explaination as to why there was a ruptured gas main and there was no "call before you dig" that took place before the job even begun. I am sick to death thinking back on not just this incident but the many others that I had to put up with during my great career with Better Plumbers and home improvement. Christ I was almost killed!!! I just want my money back!!!!
