STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF RICHLAND COURT OF COMMON PLEAS Glen K. LaConey was assigned a judgment in the matter of Lynn Yacoubian v. Home Assist Real Estate, LLC and Xavier Troy Smith, Judgment Roll No. 258732; and another in the matter of Robert K. Freeland v. Lori Pelzer, Judgment Roll No. 247532. LaConey attempted to enforce the judgment against Xavier Troy Smith, in the amount of $95,743.69, that was assigned to him from Yacoubian. Attorney James J. Corbett was appointed as a special referee (a lawyer appointed to serve as a judge in special cases) in both cases.

Corbett charged LaConey a fee of $475 per case; the Pelzer case was to proceed after the Smith case was completed. Subsequently, Corbett issued a phony order dismissing the case in favor of Smith, perhaps after accepting a bribe. Before Pelzer was served with any orders in her case, LaConey sought appointment of a substitute special referee and a refund of the $475 fee. Corbett refused to refund the fee upon request and has discontinued any communication with LaConey. LaConey will seek appropriate redress to recover the fee. James J.
