We purchased a fixed condo that we intended on using as a short term rental. Not gaveling any experience in remodel/renovation we turned to the internet to find a contractor. We met with a handful of potential contractors/handymen and settle on the duo of James Lillard and Tyshaun Pierre who represented a company called Peace of Mind Home Care Services. They promised a quick and efficient remodel that would take "one week, working around the clock” as stated by James. They quoted $4500 for labor and a one week time frame. The list of tasks were pretty basic including painting, basic electrical, lighting, tile, flooring, countertops, and cabinets. They insured us they "could do it all”. We paid $2000 up front and gave them a key to the condo as they were to start immediately.

One week came and went without and significant progress. We asked for frequent updates, photos of work, and texts confirming progress was being made. After over 3 weeks of extended deadlines and empty promises they began to bicker amongst eachother pointing fingers and blaming eachother for the lack of progress. It got so bad that we literally had to put them both in a room and let one go. We stuck with James based on his claim of being licensed and based on yet another empty promise of a one week completion. Two and a half additional weeks of lies and lack of completion and we finally had enough and decided to cut ties and fire James. Now that he’s off the project we’ve had multiple contractors through to re-bid the project. All of which were shocked at the quality of work that had been performed and the hazardous nature in which some things had been put together. Shoddy wiring, horrible drywall, and shaky tile etc. Now we have to spend a minimum of $3000 to have the electrical redone in the entire condo. So, over six weeks, several thousands of dollars, and unimaginable stress we’re forced to start over. Stay far away from this guy and this company. It’s nothing but a scam and waste of time and money.
