I became acquainted with Mr. James McCorkle when I was searching for a transcription program for my company in 2002. He was working for another company at the time and sat in as a trainee with the actual sales person. I did not buy that company's software program at the time because of the expense.

Mr. McCorkle left this company and took my phone number with him which I am certain was against this company's policy and he did not obtain my permission to do so. He contacted me about a year later stating he had started his own software company at that time called Cronus Health. He demonstrated his product to me over the internet. He stated that it had been tested but again the pricing at that time was way too high for my company so I declined the product then as well. He was persistent.

He continued to call periodically for many months and after having reduced his price substantially, I agreed to try the software, called ISuite. This was developed for typists, more specifically medical transcriptionsts, who do production type work. The software tracks reports, counts lines/pages, does statistics, QA reports, compiles billing statements, etc.

The product he demonstrated would have been very useful to me which is why I purchased it. I paid $3,875.00 for the product and started using it in September of 2004. The product was an immediate failure. The voice files were switched around and the information that was logged on the system was different from the actual recording. The transcribed reports printed as blank documents on the client side. The scrolling feature on the Microsoft typing platform did not work and the transcribers had to manually perform this feature. The transcribers computers on which the software was installed would freeze up and had to be rebooted multiple times in order to work properly.

He came up with one excuse after another as to why this was happening, i.e., we had "cracked" copies of Micorsoft word, we didn't know how to use the Microsoft Word typing platform, we did not know how to use our computers and needed an IT person, and numerous other excuses. Myself and my staff have been fully trained in the use of numerous typing platforms including Microsoft Word and Word Perfect and have used both in excess of 20+ years so we were immediately offended by this comment. We never could figure out what a cracked Microsoft Word program was.

I informed Mr. Mc Corkle that I was not going to use his system any longer until he had ironed out the bugs in his software. After three days of use, I stopped using the software and switched back to our old method. He worked on this problem until January of 2005 when I cautiously attempted to use it again as he said he had an updated program.

We started up again on January 1, 2005 and again experienced the same types of problems, switched voice files, reports not printing on the client end, computers freezing up and no new software in place at that time. I tried to work with him for a week and a half to give him the opportunity to work these bugs out but they could not be fixed and continued to hinder our production.

I again pulled out after 10 days and requested a full refund of my money. He pleaded with me to work with him to get his product up and running. I believe he was using me as a test client in order to promote his product. I initially agreed to try the product one last time in February but when he attempted to install the product on my assistant's computer, his representatives did such a poor job of installation that I called the whole thing off and demanded my money back.

What should have been a 15 minute installation lasted almost 2-1/2 hours. This was a waste of my time and money. He again made the comment that my transcriber had a pirated copy of Microsoft Word and that was causing the problem with his software. The truth of the matter is, she had a Dell Computer who installed the program when she purchased it and I am certain Dell is not in the business of installing pirated copies of anything.

Mr. McCorkle was full of excuses for why his product did not work and was going to blame anyone other than himself. His software was no good. It never worked at any satisfactory level on any of my staffs' computers. I have eight transcribers and each and every one experienced major problems causing delays in the production of our work.

In the beginning after the first three day trial in September of 2004, I had to repull all my voice files and retranscribe the reports that did not print. These reports were completely blank except for the patient name. I had to pay my transcribers out of my pocket for this mess as they had already typed the reports once on his system but they did not print on the client side.

He did not perform a thorough on-site visit in the beginning of this quest as he stated he had done, and I ended up having to purchase another computer to run his poorly designed program on. He had assured me previously that the computer I already had on site was sufficient. He also blamed the McAfee antivirus software for causing a glitch in his computer and we switched to another program, Norton antivirus, but continued to have the same problems.

Prior to purchasing the program, each transcriber submitted computer specs to his company to ensure that their computers were compatible with the program and all were compatible. The question was never asked about what existing programs we had on our computers that may interfere with his software. Had this been the case, I would have never purchased the program.

I have requsted that he refund my money in full, by certified mail, E mail and telephone request in March and April of 2005 and he has failed to even call back. He sent an E mail stating he was in the process of merging with another company and would get back to me which he has not.

I think Mr. McCorkle and the company he owns cannot be trusted as he has no integrity and it is not a reputable company. He attempts to sell his software to transcription departments in hospitals and clinics where it is used the most. He is trying to compete with the more established companies but he is way out of his league. They stand behind their products and will give a refund if it does not perform properly.

My experience with him has left a very bad taste in my mouth. He is attempting to perform a disservice to the medical transcription community and they need to be made aware of him and others like him. His software does not perform. He cannot be trusted.

For any following concerns or questions please email Nikunj Ghosh former Chief Technology Officer for Transcription South nikunj0768@gmail.com and Michael Peters former General Manager of Transcription South m_p_peters@hotmail.com. I purchased my source code from the developer of their system which is why I left what is now known as www.nuance.com after departing www.mmodal.com to innovate past where the CEOs were going at that time. Both companies are wildly successful and I only seek to fulfill the potential of our companies efforts for clients seeking the most they can get from their software and service vendor. Feel free to email me at james.mccorkle@gmail.com for further information. Thx JM

Software Does Not Work Alongside Viruses

AUTHOR: James McCorkle - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 30, 2010

I am writing to provide my side of the story.  First off I am a former typist for the US Army Staff Judge Advocate Corp and have been in programming for over 30 years.  I first got involved in the transcription technology when I worked with www.vianeta.com (now known as www.medquist.com) 1999 to 2000 and www.medremote.com (now known as www.nuance.com) 2001 to 2002.  These are two of the leading providers of transcription technology in the market today with revenues totalling over 1.5 billion per year.  I lead the biz dev, was instrumental in adapting the applications to market needs and closed/implemented some of the largest deals in the market at that time with clients like www.tenethealth.com and www.broadlane.com.

In 2002, seeking to set my own shingle in a market which has proven very successful, I formed my own company and acquired the source code for an application MT Terminal that has been used by www.tsouth.com since 1996.

After a long and self funded development period I met Mary at JJWTrans the person who filed this ripoff report.  As a favor to her and for the third client implementation I reduced my fees and charged a one time fee in lieu of a monthly line rate.  We agreed on $3.5 k which generally we charge $2.5k for setup and training, but I waived this fee in support of my clients efforts to transition the one big account she had.

After over 5 trips which I paid for to LA to set up interfaces and dictation integrations with an old legacy dictation server (each trip over $500) and hundreds of hours providing training and setting up the account we encountered viruses on JJWTrans MT PCs.  This was caused by the fact the machines were not protected by virus protection.  I informed Mary that this was a huge issue as we could not open the core server applications and infrastructure to the viruses which were growing on several of her MTs machines.  It was not all of her MTs that were affected just several older MTs who had no clue as this was their first time being exposed to the internet continuously.

To resolve the matter I instructed Mary she had to purchase or cause her MTs to purchase needed virus protection and I offered to clean the machines as the MTs had no clue what was going on and JJWTrans had no IT Dept.  To make a long story short Mary refused went out and found a new vendor and basically demanded her money back in violation of the contract.  There were no problems caused by our application, but because Mary refused to get the needed protections we cancelled the contract and moved on.

Some time after I moved on I found this posting which was brought to my attention by an investor and hence now why I am taking my time to ensure the facts are established.

I have references go to www.tsouth.com regarding my ability to deliver as they are now a part of a 750 global transcription and HIM services group that has worked with me for over 10 years and still works with me.  If you need additional information or have questions please contact me via email at james.mccorkle@gmail.com.  Best wishes, James McCorkle former CEO and Founder of Cronus Health and Skye Technology, LTD.
