James Nello DBO, Vacation Rentals in the Desert Also Sylvia, Stephanie and Dennis Nello, who is Mr.James Nello's father, who appears to tend to his son's properties. WARNING, RIPOFF, REFUSED to PAY REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT ON VRBO home. In January 2016, I contacted James Nello through VRBO about renting property VRBO #641444, I agreed to rent the home from 12/22-12/29/2016 for $4,305.00. I sent a deposit of $305.00 as a personal check to him immediately because he did not take credit cards or go through VRBO’s secure online paying. I want my $305.00 back and I would like James Nello and his organization banned from VRBO. He is not an honest professional. Palm Springs California

I have also been ripped off by this man! he ownes me over US$5000. I enquired about renting a house through VBRO and started liaising with James Nello. I paid him a deposit diretcly to his company Vactaion Rentals bank account and then paid the remaining amount. A total of over $5000! I then cancelled the booking and the owner of the property told him to refund me the full amount and he never did. Not a cent! Then he had the nerve to make up excuses and lies for the next 12months as to why he could not pay me. He even said that it was VBRO that had to refund me, even though I never paid them a cent, i paid him directly. 

VBRO should ban him and everyone should be aware and not use him so they dont have to go through 12months of excuses and lies like I have had too. 

This was my hard earnned savings that I was using to rent a house for a very special holiday. I want to cry every time I think about it. i feel so stupid for letting someone like James Nello and Vaction Rentals fool me.

I will happily remove this comment if he pays me what he owes me but after already 12months I am not holding my breath.

This is not an isolated incident.  We had the same type of issue with Mr. James Nello. We cancelled at least 6 months in advance of our rental date when we saw the property was listed for sale. It was only till VRBO threatened to remove his listing that we finally received our deposit. You should report him to VRBO. He did not respond to emails or phone calls. He was very unprofessional.

We just noticed that this guest did not send her balance payment within our usual 60 days prior to their arrival and we had phoned and emailed them three times asking if they were still fulfilling their vacation stay. When we never heard back from them, we ended up having to rent it for less because it was such a short notice, so this guest was not entitled to her $305 back as it actually went towards the next guests discounted rent to our owners. Then for this guest to slander my name and harrass me for months is appauling. Something like that with your magical touch - maybe even put we have been doing this for 29 years now and have never been so insulted in my career.

I wish to let everyone reading the complaint against James Nello, Dennis Nello,  and the girls in the office of Vacation Rentals of the Desert that we have never had any issue with them. We have had several contacts with the Nellos and the office employess over the past few years and have had nothing but excellent service from them all. We have rented vacation homes from them and have never had a problem getting a quick response if we needed something. We had no problem getting our deposit back after our return. On top of that they are very willing to find the right property for the budget, and we 0have been able to stay at some very luxurious properties for much less than we expected to pay.

One unfortunate incident should not ruin a good company's reputation.
