Jan Rodak The Bark Fake account maker who blast reports to shut down companies Redmond Washington

Our team was on assignment out in the California desert with several independent interns who were arriving separately from the main group.

During the initial setup our coordinator was cut off from Internet along with several other team members, leaving the interns without directions out in the desert in 120+ degree heat.

It turns out that someone had created multiple fake accounts and generated a massive amount of fake reports to shut down our coordinator and intern's accounts on Facebook's Messenger, stranding them in the desert.

SAR was contacted and able to locate the interns, they were given the cell numbers in the end and re-connected, however we had to pay roughly $5000 to the county for their efforts.

We were never entirely sure why our company was targetted, but eventually our team was able to trace the source to a user online by the name of "Jan Rodak".

We have never met this person nor has any of our team members, a police report was filed, however due to the interstate issue we were advised by the agency to report this here as well.

We have updated our policy to use cell phone and radio for communications instead of relying on online networking sites due to the nature of the potential for abuse and loss of service.

PS: One of our team members has remarked that there may be need for future legislation to prevent online networking sites from cutting off service abruptly, much like rental tenants can not be evicted on the spot or utilities can not be disconnected without notice.
