The average Corporate office (21 total) kept over 40% of their regional offices revenue. The rest went to the franchise. Since the hourly loaded rates charged were not sufficient, and the cleaning rate per hour was deliberately ambitious, there was NO way most franchises could make even minimum wage on a typical account.
Also, because Jani-King deliberately targets the poor and minorities, they tap into the marketplace of money laundering by local drug dealers, as well as those evading garnishments like child support. The businesses are put in their mother's name but the criminals do the work and run the business. Jani-King knows this and has reason to know that the typical franchisee fits this m/o if they cared to look into the matter. Of course, they won't.
The Company is unethical to the core. They have massive turn-over. They are routinely accused of malfeasance. They have a founder who....well let's just say he has a pension for reckless and self-destructive behavior. (read other accounts of Jim Cavanaugh)
Jerry Crawford, the President, is somewhat a figure head. He's a bigot. He's an old school preacher type self righteous bible thumper. He trusts no one. He's paranoid and clearly lacking a moral compass. He is the opposite of what he professes.
Don't fall for it! Don't buy a franchise. Don't work for them. Report their behavior as you see it! Discourage anyone from contracting services from them. Shout from the highest mountain and always always let the Federal Trade Commission know how you feel about Jani-King "the criminals of clean".
