On Nov 5, 2007 I was fired as a driver from JB Hunt for "violating safety regulations". That violation was - making a U-turn at an open, legal turning break on a public roadway. After the fact, I searched high and low for that reg and it does not exist. I questioned other drivers with multiple million miles with JB and they never heard of it either. In the course of this action of U-turn I was struck by an auto trying to pass me. There were no injuries. there were no charges against me by the investigating police. There was no damage to company equipment, and very little to the vehicle that struck me. I had witnesses that verified my intentions via signal lights, and the driver of the other vehcle stated that she "saw the signal but didn't think he was going to turn". After the accident - immediately - I was interviewed and cleared by a representative investigator of JB Hunt.

That investigator was David Roman of the CRAWFORD U.S. Property & Casualty, 6612 E. 75th St., Suite 105, Idianapolis, IN. As a note. I am a professional school trained driver of nearly twenty five years and have NEVER been convicted of a DOT driving violation of any kind. In fact I have not had a conviction for traffic violation since June of 1977!!! I was notified via telephone that I was fired by my manager Brook Neil. She apparently was instructed to fire me by the Midwest safety director, whom I do not know - person or name. In the previous driving week I was awakened on at least two occasions - when I should have been taking my 10 hour break - by telephone from my fleet managers office, to ask questions of my whereabouts. Odd since there are qualcoms in the vehicle.

Upon my unemplyment claim they failed to respond to the Tennessee Dept of Labor and Workforce after three attempts to contact them, therefore I was granted unemployment benefits. This is basically the tip of the iceberg for the shifty things that go on with JB Hunt. I will not reiterate on another report you have about the pay rate, miles, time off, etc. etc. - all true. I think their slogan should be "Covering our a*s is our first concern". Because it certainly is NOT safety and surely not driver concern.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

always innocent, never wrong

AUTHOR: Lynn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 04, 2008

from one professional driver to another, i dont have to remind you of g.o.a.l......in you letter you wrote 5 sentences before you stated a car hit you in the course of making you u-turn. !!! being a professional driver it is my oponion that u-turns are unsafe, espically in a j.b. hunt truck, as they are over sized too start with and take much more space and time to manuver. and you dont ever make a u-turn in an intersection.!!!! i have to surmize that although you were not cited and have a clean c.d.l. that you were terminated because you were involved in a preventable accident. caused because you felt you had the right of way and were in a hurry. driver, start paying attention to where you are and what you are about to do. next time circle the block...... have a nice day x j.b. hunt driver
