I purchased a Yacht battery from J.C. Whitney for my mint 1969 ca 160 honda. Last summer I noticed that the top of the battery (1 year old) was leaking and damaged the paint.
I called J.C. Whitney and informed them of the damage. They contacted Yacht battery supplier. Yacht then asked for an estimate and pictures,which I sent to them.
Whitney and Yacht then proceeded to give me the run around for weeks with denials and requests for more pictures and said the battery did not leak.
Finally I gave up and sealed the top of the battery and this seemed to fix the problem.
I think most J.C.Whitney products are junk and will never order from them again.As for Yacht batteries I know they are junk.Next time I will spend the extra $10.00 and buy a YUSA battery.
