I am a single mother of 4. I went to JD Byrider after my minivan broke down. I am on a very limited income. I needed a car and my credit was tarnished after my divorce. I was sold a crap car with a crap warranty. So far, everything that has gone wrong has not been covered.
The oil leaked from the day I bought it. I had to put 3 quarts in after a week of owning it. I put 3 quarts in a week. Since it clearly says that excessive oil consumption is not covered unless it results in a breakdown. If I didn't add the 3 quarts a week then I the engine would blow.
According to the terms in the warranty that would void the warranty as it would be negligence resulting in a breakdown. So how do I get around this one? JD Byrider refuses to fix the car and I am paying well more than the car is worth.
In addition Leron from Greenwich Financial begins calling me on the day my payment is due and will continue to call me and my "references" 10 times a day until the payment is made. I was 3 days late once and not only did I receive harasssing calls from him but then he called and said his repo guy was on the way to my house to speak with me and collect the payment. He said if I didn't work something out with hie repo guy then he would be taking the car.
Can you tell me how this sounds? About 20 minutes later I received a call from an unknown number, caller ID was blocked so I let it go to voicemail. It was clearly Leron disguising his voice. He said he was the repo guy and I needed to call him back or he was coming to get my car or collect payment. I have the voicemail saved and will have it available to use in court if I can figure out a way to have this place charged for something. Anyone with info that can help, PLEASE reply.

#3 Consumer Suggestion
The interest is legal.

It's probably financed in the high 20% range and it compounds daily each day you are late. The only way you have a chance is to pay every payment on time. If your pay periods change then Pay extra every payment untill you get one payment ahead. Have your references write a note that they are not to be contacted and fax it to the finance company. By law they will not be allowed to call them. If they are calling you at work-- verbally tell them not to and legally they can't. Also put in writing not to call you at home -- contact you by mail only and you won't get any calls. If they disclose that you owe them money to a reference or on your answering machine you have a case. Go on line and file a complaint with the attorney general. You'll win and they'll be in big trouble and have to answer to the attorney general.
