I purchased a vehicle (1995 Ford Ranger XL)from J.D. Byrider on 11/24/03 for the purchase price of $7900. Subsequent research showed that the BEST Blue Book value of this vehicle with its current mileage, physical condition, and options is $4900. Thus I was overcharged $3000 over book value.
Additionally, I was financed at 24.9 interest. Which I was told was standard and unchangeable for all first time customers.
Additionally, J.D. Byrider advertises and asserted to me that the vehicle had been through a rigorous 25 point inspection. Since purchasing the vehicle. I have had to have repairs on the brakes done (in first 15 days) and have recurring electrical problems (that should have been detected in the inspection) that they have stated to have repaired and have since recurred.

When I moved to from Ohio to Texas, I had some mechanical problems that were supposed to be covered under their warranty as they were recurrences of issues that their service technicians had supposedly fixed.
I made several calls to the head of their warranty department and never got my calls returned. I paid out of pocket to fix the issues myself.
No matter how badly you need a vehicle, do not purchase one from J.D. Byrider. They are not worth the effort.

In 1999 I went to this JD Byrider location to see if they were interested in buying my car. During my conversation with the owner he told me that him and several friends from his church were interested in helping "challenged individuals" find a way to buy cars so they purchased a JD Byrider franchsie. Sounded like an honorable thing.
I sold them my 93 Tempo for $2,000. I had no problems with the transaction. About a week later I drove by and seen my Tempo on their lot with a list price of almost $8,000!! Couple that with the high interest rates and one understands why the poor get poorer.
