So this is the first ever buy here pay here lot I've ever went to, and it had me walking away before signing the 'contract.'

First:
The salesman Dave during his 'pitch' that he called a 'program' stated "these are dinged up cars, they will break down. BUT we have a 24 month 24k mile warranty... blah blah blah."

I just smile and nod because my credit isn't bad or good it's what people consider "ghost" I just don't have it established. But anyways... he says the only car I'm able to get is a 2000 Elantra with 97k miles at a price of $9,980. Now this is a super standard issue car... and yes I know you expect to pay a mark up at the typical buy here pay here lots but at this one you don't even get to pick out the car you would like.

I felt really un-easy over the fact that I had asked if I could have a day or two to think about it. (When you spend that much money I like to think about it before committing to a 400 dollar a month payment for a crappy car.) He immediately went on the defensive and said "Well, we can't do that and we had to beg the finance woman to approve this." I said "Well then if you had to beg her to do it, I obviously don't need the car so my business is done here." And luckily walked out before I signed a dang thing.

I advise people to be very careful with this place. It's only good for a last resort and read every single thing you sign. Their payment system and 'budget' is majorly flawed for failure.

You Were Smart

You're probably one of the few that escaped a losing proposition. JDB makes their profit by targeting the uninformed, uneducated and desperate customer. Any educated person would realize that paying double the book value for a used car is a suckers deal. Granted, you'll definitely pay a higher interest rate if you have blemished credit but that should not affect the pricing of the car itself. Did you notice that none of the cars on the lot had pricing stickers? There's a reason for that. The salesperson can size you up to see if you're gullible enough to pay a grossly inflated price. It's not surprising that the salesman didn't want you to take a few days to think things over. He knew you'd probably hit the Internet to check JDB out. That would have guaranteed a lost sale.
In our area JDB has a real problem keeping mechanics on staff. That should tell you something. Quality mechanics won't go near operations like this.
Avoid real pain, avoid JD Byrider.................
