Today 6/2/06 I received in the mail a letter from Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC referencing an account with Providian that has supposedly been handed over to MRC Receivables Corp. for collection.
The letter says I owe $2,308 and can sign up for their Embrace Visa Fresh Start Solution to "satisfy" this debt. I have never had any type of account with Providian. I have never received notices either by mail or phone of any type of debt. I googled MRC Receivables and thankfully found your site. Originally I was going to call the 866 number on the letter to investigate but now I'm just going to check my credit report and shred that scam of a letter.
Be aware. It's sickening what people will do these days.
