My husband and I retain Jeffery L. Smith Lawgroup to help us with our Home Modification Loan back in June of 2011. Here we sit almost a year later in the same situatuation we were then. The only difference is our home is under Foreclouser now!!!!!!!!!!!  I spoke to Mr. Smith personally in March of 2012.  Our conversation was professional and I was satisfied with the call at that time. Mr. Smith and I discussed a refund of our payments is modification was not settled in 2 weeks.  It is the first of May as of right now, and since April I have tried time and time again to contact Mr. Smith with no luck.  He is either in court or in meetings.  I have left message after message after message two and three times a week and even a couple times a day. Has he even tried to get back with me? NO!! Not even ONCE!!

This practice is a JOKE... They claim to help thier clients retain thier homes and instead they are just as bad as the banks... They dont know the hardship they put on us or dont care... That refund will help us to get back in good grace with the Morgage company after we witdrawal our retirement funds from our employers.. What a shame, this company needs to be investgated and stand behind thier own contract.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

As an ex employee I am affraid this is true

AUTHOR: trying to help - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 03, 2012

Unfortunately I was employed by this company and saw for myself the total lack of concern for the customer and their problems. In many instances phone messages went unreturned and customers joked about and called names after the few return calls were made. In one case before the phone was actually hung up an employee commented that "they were to stupid to own a home anyway" after she failed to do her job.

I have to admit that in some cases the law firm was able to get some great work done and save many homes for people, however the ratio of homes saved and homes lost or just plain ignored was way out of proportion. The supposed refund policy was also a joke. They only refunded the folks that threatened them with the attorney general or the local bar association in their State and in Florida.

In the end in many cases they kept all or part of the money for "administrative costs". Unfortunately I believe they knew they could not handle the volume that was signed up but did it anyway with the intention of just plain keeping the money regardless if they could help or not.
