Bad Roofing Job by Triple Diamond Roofing and Remodeling Company

Contracted with company to tear-off and reroof family home. We bought shingles and drip edge. Company rep was given $721.00 to purchase start-up shingles, flashing, felt, modified rubber, nails, replacement lumber as needed, and any other necessary supplies. After three days of the tear-off crew tearing off shingles, we had no purchased supplies delivered and NO shingles replacing the ones that had been torn off. Rain was in the forecast so the crew put down felt that they had from another job and left us "in the dry". Then it rained! We were awaken in the wee morning hours by water pouring into our home. We set buckets and emptied them for about an hour. My husband went on top of the roof to see if anything could be adjusted to slow the water down. The situation was improved somewhat by repositioning some bundles of shingles.

We had emptied bookcases in my bedroom when the water started coming in to save hundreds of books for being ruined. Water poured in at the light fixture over the dining room table. You could hear the water dripping into the walls behind the sheetrock.

We got very little sleep that night. After getting up that morning, my father removed 25 gallons of water from the carpet in his room.

That day the modified rubber was purchased and delivered. Some more supplies from another job site arrived( felt and tacks and three-tab start up shingles). The shingles finally began to be put on the roof by ONE roofer. The tear-off crew returned and began to haul off what they had already torn off. The "bosses" delivered the modified rubber and were soon gone.

Just about dark, it began to rain again. There were several leaks but nothing pouring in like the night before. The person that had roofed that day called to see if everything was alright. I told him we were leaking. He came over and got everything stopped and said call him if it started again during the night.

I have paid the initial $721.00 PLUS an additional $400.00 that went to the tear-off crew. That is about 1/2 the contracted amount for the job. The job is not yet completed.

As the roof began to get back on my house, I left word with my father (he is the only one at the home during the day) and the roofer that if the roofer was not there NO ONE was to be on my roof. This is after unsupervised tear-off had left my home open to the elements. They would have torn off MORE if I had not said NO MORE tearing off on the day we knew rain was forecast for that night and I didn't have a roof on!

Now this company has FIRED the roofer who is putting the roof back on my house and keeping my home dry. He continued to come and roof. The "boss" came and picked up the nail guns and tear off tools yesterday. Some of the shovels and picks belong the the fired roofer.

He will still finish my house.

My delimma is I have damages and another $1000.00 owing on the contract with this company. When the nail guns were picked up the "lady boss" threatened to take the shingles (that she didn't buy and the roofer she fired put down) OFF the roof! I don't intend to pay this company the remaining balance on this contract. The final payment is contingent on a satisfactory inspection of the work performed. I am not happy with the way this company does business or the unprofessional manner in which they deal with their customers and employees.
