This is the second collection agency that is trying to collect a fraudulent credit card debt.
Each is and was persistant in their phone and written inquiries and demands for payment of phone purchases on a credit card which was not taken out by me in my name.
To each company I explained that the credit card in question was fraudulent and in fact was taken out in another state as I live in Arizona.
I explained that when I was notified of this debt I obtained a police report affirmming this fact to which they pay no attention.
Their only concern is to collect the money which ever way they can without any regard to whether or not I was the debtor.
The present collection agency is affiliated with a law firm who is threatening to file judgement without even taking the time to check out the information I have supplied them.
Is this Justice...

I too am a victim of Jerold Kaplan Law Office. I am in the process now of submitting a Civil Suit Answer for a lawsuit that I had not knowledge of until I received Kaplan's intent to seek a default judgement. In their Application they referenced having processed served me numerous times. Civil suit was filed May 9, 2008 (I only became aware this January 2009!) Believe me when I say that had I ever been processed served or received any other mailing regarding a lawsuit...I would certainly not sit around and NOT respond. The default filings does not even reference the purpose or reason for said lawsuit!!!
I believe this law firm prays on those who do not know the law or how to fight for themselves. They are going have a fight on their hands with me.
