My husband and I were first time home buyers and our credit was not too pretty. We found this house(repo) that was only 2 years old. The Jim Walters employee gave us a tour of the place. He neglected to say that the light socket on the back of the house, sizzled when they were switched on.  All thje electrical sockets in the kitchen were attached to one fuse, so we could smell electrical smoke and we kept throughing fuses. There was no lights in one of the bedrooms. The carpet he said was almost brand new "after all the house is on 2 years old". The carpets rolled up less than 6 months later. In the attic there was a hole that was covered only by shingles.You can see each piece of plywood in the ceiling, as if they could fall through soon. And we were told that ex-cons were used to build our home. I could understand that being that the construction was so shabby and a lot of short cuts were used. Our bar area? You could lift off the top, it was not anchored. When we lifted the top to dismantle it, the rest feel apart like matchsticks. We were told that there was no problem with the septic other than it was placed right beside the front steps. And in the summer when you would like to be lazing on the front porch... you can't because it STINKS to high heaven. We started out buying our repo for 54,500, in 2005, with 551.43 a month, and in 2008 we paid the house off for a whopping 57,712. Why??? I did ask but the only thing I got was "there were other fees". Like what I asked, "I don't know just other fees. We wanted to get rid of Jim Walters because we found out that they didn't stand by there word and they lied. And They ripped us off.
