I purchased a Vehicle Service Contract for almost $2000. I recently made a claim for $1300 and discovered that Warrantech Automotive, Inc whose name is on the contract would not honor the contract.

I purchased the contract from Jim Pearl, Dealer who sold the contract through Warrantech who evidently sold it through Reliance. Recently Reliance went into bankruptcy and in the same period Jim Pearl sold out to Auffenberg, Dealer.

I have contacted Auffenberg, Warrantech and Reliance and no one will honor the contract I purchased in good faith. I have been informed that the Dealer was the obligor but since Auffenberg bought out Jim Pearl, I have received no cooperation from Auffenberg.

Although Auffenberg is still selling warranties through Warrantech who is not in bankruptcy. Auffenberg bought the assets of Jim Pearl and therefore they also bought the financial obligations. It is a case of a company selling a product, who sells it for another, who sells for another until no company will take responsibility.

They have all made money in the process and they have all sheltered themselves from responsibility. Someone is responsible for ripping me off for $3000. Companies make billions of dollars ripping millions of people off.

I called the Better Business Bureau and they said that Pearl's had complaints and they disputed every complaint, that they were never resolved.

The problem with my car now is the BMPV Module needs replacing at a cost of $1395.10. I paid $1,986 for the service contract. I already made other repairs in the amount of $1300.

I am demanding full reimbursement!
$1,395 BMPV Module that needs replacement

If Jim Pearl Auto aka Auffenberg Auto Dealer does not want to be responsible for any repairs in the future, I am also demanding a full refund of my $2,000 service contract.

They knew I would have never bought this vehicle with out a service contract!!

I demand that they pay me $3,395. This does not include my time and aggravation! Thank you to the Rip-offReport.com volunteers.

Kurt's way off base

AUTHOR: Dick - (U.S.A.)

Kurt,
I don't know what department you work in, but it's obvious you don't understand the workings and obligations of insurance companies to warranty adminstrators and retail buyers. Warrantech has a terrible reputation and has changed insurance carriers numerous times in the past 6 -7 years. At least two carriers have dropped Warrentech and sued them for not reserving enough monies to cover future claims. Both suits were settled out of court by Warrantech for an undisclosed amount. The recent sell out to private equity was necessary to stay in business due to falling stock value and consumer and dealer complaints. Dealers nationwide have quit doing business with Warrentech and their future in the Automotive business looks grime due solely to poor administration. If Warrentech cared about it's future they will continue to pay consumer claims and not leave the resposiblity to the dealers and agents they solicited to sell improperly insured contracts.

Get The Facts Straight!

I am currently an employee of Warrantech Automotive and I couldn't help but notice this lame and untrue reply to this complaint. This is not a Warrantech problem, this never was. The only thing Warrantech got out of all this was being paid by the carrier (reliance) to administer their contracts and get agents involved in selling them. It is no more our fault the carrier went out of business than it is for world hunger.

Essentially the carrier and the agents made out like bandits on this deal moreso than we did, hence why they are the obligor. The only reason those calls have to even be handled by us is that we are bound to administer them by the verbiage of the contract, we no longer have Reliances bank account to pay for these. This has been an absolute headache for Warrantech because we stopped geeting paid the minute the carrier went under.

I will not lie and say that our company got SOME type of money, but I know that in that money we did get, covers the cost of us having to adminster contracts for a company that no longer pays us to do so. So who screwed who? The agent, and carrier, they are the ones that got all your money, yet they will never admit it. If you notice most, if not all obligors to these contracts supposedly went out of business the minute they chanegd names, to avoid paying them. Those are the real crooks here, yet we still administer them for free to hold up our end of the deal.

Truly sorry but not responsible.

We here at Auffenberg of Carbondale truly sympathize with all of the people affected by the Warrantech problem. The last thing we would want here is a unsatisfied customer. Unfortunately the responsiblities of the dealership did not change hands in the purchase of JIM PEARL INC. to Auffenberg of Carbondale. Although, we would be happy to provide a discounted price on a new warranty for all those affected by this. To do so please bring in your Warrentech paperwork and mention this report from ripoffreport.com.
