Joan, Michael & Red Rumsey Beware, Landlords who are Thieves screwed others too slime-ball Sedalia Missouri

My husband and I rented a home from Joan Rumsey in Sedalia, MO. She had stated the rent would be $200.00 per month. After we moved in she upped the rent to $300.00 per month and told my husband I had told her I had rather pay that amount.

The Electric was in her name and she wanted it left that way. She would bring the electric over each month and we paid it directly to the electric department.

My husband is an ex-police officer who has a bullet in his head from a shot in the line of duty. Due to that he has sleep apnia and sleeps with a c-pac machine.

Even though our rent was paid and the electric bill was not even due until July 13, 2002 she had the electricity turned off because she wanted us to pay her the money instead of taking it to the electric department as had been my habit. It was July 2, 2002 and the temperature was around 100 degrees for several days. She wanted us to move out of the house. She claimed she had lost control of her house and she wanted us to move.

She had stolen most of our garden tools and put them in her part of the house. She also took other items from the house we moved from and took them to other homes she owns.

She came over one day after the electricity had been turned off and unlocked the front doorof the house so our valuable Old English Sheep Dogs would get out of the house and of course would probably get run over. That same day she also cut the lock off the main gate at the driveway and opened the gate(s) to the land where the horses were so they would get out and get into the street. Sedalia, MO allows people to have horses in the city limits. I called the police and she told them she would do it again because she wanted her house back. The officer told her she would have to go through the court to get us out of the house and she told him she had never done that and wasn't going to do it now.

She is a very vicious old woman and her son Michael and her husband Red are afraid of her and will not help the tenants in any way.

Her Son Michael told us that her favorite thing to do is turn off the electricity at her tenants residents. She hides behind the fact that she is a christian who follows Benny Henn. She in fact is the devil himself hiding in the body of an old woman named Joan Rumsey.

My husband is 63 and I am 56. Our home has deadly molds and we had to leave it because of the poisions and mycrotoxins there and that is the reason we rented Mrs. Rumsey's house. My husband and I are suffering several illnesses because of the mold and the stress she put us through is inhumane.

She has a rooming house at 422 West 7th Street in Sedalia, MO. Men who have lived there have reported that she comes upstairs in the middle of the night in her underwear throwing people out for no reason. I was told one man came there and the Salvation Army gave him 2 weeks rent and another organization gave him the security deposit to move into her rooming house. The first night he was there she went up in the usual attire of her underwear and threw him out. He had no where to go so he had to leave all his personal belongings and of course she didn't refund any of his money which wasn't his in the 1st place.

All persons looking for housing in the Sedalia, MO area should stay clear of any properties owned by the Rumsey family. Joan Rumsey is a liar, a common thief as well as a greedy old woman who has no regard for the law.

She illegally tapped into the city sewer line at the house located at 1400 South Marshall street years ago. She has barrels of gasoline stored at her residence at 422 West 7th street and 1400 S. Marshall street. Both residences are in populated areas and static electricity, lightening, heat or many other things could set off an explosion. This issue needs to be handled. I have reported these things to the Sedalia Fire Department and the Sedalia Police Department.
