These internet offers/promotions MUST be held accountable for misrepresentation.

Around the first of the year, I viewed an online advertisement for skin cream which I thought my wife would like.  We both enjoy the HGTV show "Fixer-Upper" and because this product was being promoted as one of Joanna Gaines' new business ventures, I decided to order the SAMPLE being offered.

Being a careful internet shopper I read the offer carefully (several times) and decided to order the SAMPLE for $4.99 which was to cover shipping.  On about January 9th or 10th, I received the SAMPLE cream which I was able to gift my wife as a belated Christmas present.  She used this SAMPLE for just about 2 weeks when we noticed a new credit card charge for $89.92.  I immediately phoned the company to inquire about this new charge and was informed that the trial SAMPLE introduced a SUBSCRIPTION for which I would receive this cream monthly.  I explained that I did NOT request a subscription, had NOT received a subsequent order of the skin cream, wanted my account cancelled and payment of $89.92 refunded immediately.

The automaton marketer explained that I had not cancelled my order within the required 15 days (this was on day 15) and, therefore could only offer a partial refund and began offering other special discounts.

Needless to say, a heated exchange ensued with me repeating that I never 'subscribed' to anything, demanding that any existing 'subscription' be cancelled and the charge of $89.92 be refunded immediately.  I am currently waiting to see if the subscription is acutally cancelled and if my money is refunded.

It would be a great disappointment to learn that Joanna Gaines is a knowing participant in the 'bait and switch' scheme.  If not, then the company behind this nasty little game is misrepresenting their product both by exploiting a well-liked and respected TV personality AND by misleading consumers with a "Free Trial offer containing a non-disclosed, over-priced subscription fee.

BEWARE!  FREE SAMPLE IS NOT FREE
