I found Mr. Canon on Linkedin, profile looked professional, asked if he could do a loan for my company for several million.

He advised he could do loan for $75 million if I sent him a promissory note / agreement.
He advised he was a private investor and had all these big international deals going.

He asked me to draft the agreement, which I did and sent over for review. (big red flag)
I did not sign any paperwork yet.

During the process a getting ready to sign and send, I contacted my vice-president to share the happy news.

She informed me to wait and read several emails she had received weeks ago.
She sent me the emails and they were "word for word" as Mr. Canon's emails.

She then advised me that the communications were from Janet Holloway.
She advised Mrs. Holloway had taken here signature off the agreement she had signed, used the signature to purchase item worth $297.

My vice-president then had to report the theft to local police, AOL, Linkedin and FBI.

I sent email to Mr. Joe Canon and asked if he could explain why the emails were the exact same.
He then responded with "Janet Holloway" was his partner and if I did not wish to do business with him I could go find another investor.

I requested proof he was part of a registered company, copy of employee id or his drivers license or some proof he was real.

I have not heard back from him since.
He was reported to AOL, LINKEDIN and FBI for possible fraud.

Use Caution - he offers loan if you send signed note or agreement.
They steal your signature.

I now place "DO NOT COPY" over my signature so no one can reuse it.

Mr. Joe Canon is at it again

AUTHOR: BA2012 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, January 30, 2012

I am the president and CEO of a Tennesse corporation seeking funding for our manufacturing facility to expand.  Mr. Joe Canon approached us with a Term Sheet and a Promissory Note for $15 million.  It breezed right past our bankers, because it had the right language.  Our attorneys found it strange that it was not on a Company letterhead and had no address other than an AOL email address.  He checked Ripoff Report and found Mr. Joe Canon with exactly the same scam in two minutes.  This saved us time, money, and our corporate reputation in the State of Tennessee.  Your consumer site will be first on our list when doing due diligence.    If we find Mr. Joe Canon, we will turn him in to the attorney general of Tennessee.  Thank you Ripoff Report.

Mr. Joe Canon still at it

AUTHOR: BA2012 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, January 30, 2012

I am the president of a Tennesse Corporation seeking funding for our manufacturing plant.  Mr. Joe Canon approached us with a Term Sheet and Promissory Note that had the right language that got right by our bankers, but was vetted by our attorneys.  The AOL address used by "Mr. Joe Canon," and the lack of company letterhead made them suspicious, as well as the continual self-reference of "Mr. Joe Canon."  in his due diligence, he accessed Ripoff Report, and Bingo!  There he was with exactly the same scam and same language.

Thank you RR.  You saved us our Company reputation.

The very fact that they both are using an AOL e-mail address should have been a GIANT red flag to both of you geniuses.  Only high school dropouts and scammers use an AOL address.  You really should know things like this if you plan on running a business without being scammed every other day.  WISE UP !!
