In December of 2002 I placed an order with Joey Cutrone, owner of 6th Planet Auto Parts, to build a custom motor for my car. 20 months later, having paid in full a sum of $5600 for the order, I have received nothing whatsoever. Stated delivery dates have repeatedly come and gone. Mr. Cutrone continually cites excuse after excuse to justify the perpetual delays; moving the business, taking time off with his family, alleged health issues and injuries, etc. Mr. Cutrone had led me to believe he was a capable engine builder, as he was quick to point out his past involvement in racing and a somewhat famous Nissan Z-car performance shop. He also claims to be an authority on Saturn parts, another contributing factor to my initial faith in his abilities.

In January 2004 before I left for 6 months of Army training, he claimed once more that completion was imminent. I requested that he go ahead and ship the order while I was gone, and he agreed to do so. I never suspected that an additional 6 months would still be insufficient for Mr. Cutrone to send a simple motor when an entire YEAR had already passed. During June 2004 while nearing the end of training, I contacted Mr. Cutrone to ask what my order's status was. I discovered to some surprise that he had sent... nothing.

With a remarkable lack of vaguensss, at the time of our June correspondence Mr. Cutrone stated in no uncertain terms that my order was complete and had been complete for some time. But instead of shipping my order on completion, Mr. Cutrone alleges he packed it away in preparation for moving his business. I was not aware that it was in a business' best interest to retain finished products and have them taking up precious space and weight when a move is pending. Especially when said products are a 300 lb engine and a good length of exhaust pipe. As of this writing, well over 2 months have passed since his formal claim of completion.

Lack of delivery aside, Mr. Cutrone gives a myriad of reasons for the delay on this order, including increasing prices for machine shop work and parts. The claim bears little weight for these reasons: the majority of the order in parts alone was purchased upfront at everyday retail prices that Mr. Cutrone quoted. If labor costs were increasing as alleged, putting off the work would only cause greater expense and loss of profit in the long run. But anyone with questions about the specifics should probably ask Mr. Cutrone, as he avoided providing me with any sort of receipts.

Mr. Cutrone also says that these alleged price increases have ensured him no profit, so he will not pay his employees to prepare my order for delivery from its claimed state of storage. Mr. Cutrone claims injury at the moment, and as a result will not ship the order himself. Considering his claim of injury and refusal to pay his employees to ship a completed order, at one point I politely offered to make the 700 mile drive to his business to pull the order out of storage myself and with some friends. Mr. Cutrone stated the order was too packed away to retrieve because apparently it took several weeks with a forklift to stuff into a trailer with a few tons of other parts when it didn't belong there to begin with.

Another of Mr. Cutrone's current excuses (in addition to the indefinite pending move of his business) is that he is too busy helping victims of Hurricane Charley. Yet, he is still accepting orders and conducting parts sales. My order should have been taken care of long before Hurricane Charley was even a breeze in the ocean. My payments are documented and his constantly shifting stated delivery dates documented, but there was no formal contract/delivery date and no signatures ever, no receipt or invoice given for basic accountability. The unclear delivery date is his sole attempt at legal justification for nothing to show after 20 months. In his infinite wisdom, Mr. Cutrone told me to go f*ck myself and get a lawyer, that he can take his sweet time sending my order because there was no clear delivery date, those words are documented as well.

To sum Mr. Cutrone's statements, one can only surmise:

1. Mr. Cutrone would like me to wait until whenever his indefinitely pending business move is complete.

2. Mr. Cutrone would like me to wait indefinitely until whenever he gets around to unpacking the alleged trailer that my order should never have been stuffed into.

3. Mr Cutrone would like me to wait indefinitely until whenever he feels that his alleged injury has healed because he will not pay his crew to send my completed order.

This is not Mr. Cutrone's first appearance on ripoffreport.com , in his previous appearance he boasts of having a perfect BBB record in years of operation. Research of his business currently reveals 8 BBB complaints filed in the last 12 months alone, in various states of resolution with consumers disputing the company response. Additionally, not every mistreated customer files a formal complaint with the BBB... or the Florida State Attorney's office and Desoto County office for the matter.

Rip Off Joey Cutrone 6th Planet Auto Parts

AUTHOR: Sandy - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, January 21, 2015

Like the person before me I also ordered Saturn parts from 6th Planet. I sent the check which was cashed over 2 months ago. Also like the other person stated I am still waiting for my parts. I have tried to call Mr. Cutrone but get no answer or voicemail full or a text stating he is in a meeting and will call me back. I still have nothing. Do not order anything online from this company or person, both are a total ripoff.

Is now also known as Top Notch Auto.  He got into me for 350 bucks and bent my intake valve when he tried to install a timing kit.  He also charged me up front for a new OEM genuine kit and I cold busted his crack headed tail trying to install used parts instead.  He keeps ripping people off and he'll just keep changing his business name.  When I talked to him he looks like he had his jaw bone broke and wired up a few times,  I wonder why.  No wonder his wife and kids left him.  I real looser he is.

business ethics took a break here - BBB was a fabricated, fraudulent attempt to cover their record and buy time. Not a good move...

AUTHOR: Edward - (U.S.A.)

I received a letter from the BBB with an enclosed response from 6th Planet, dated October 25th. 6th Planet states that I had already filed a chargeback and received a refund. On October 25th, I hadn't even been processed yet for the charging dispute and I have received no refund whatsoever from 6th Planet. Therefore, in light of that information the only conclusion is that the letter 6th Planet sent to the BBB was a fabricated, fraudulent attempt to cover their record and buy time. Not a good move...

6th Planet Auto Parts.... a pattern of poor business

AUTHOR: Edward - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, October 02, 2004
Since my last update, Mr. Cutrone's business has earned ANOTHER 3 complaints (13 now in the last 12 months), showing a clear pattern of poor business ethics. In the most recent incident, he did not even respond to the complaint directed at him. After telling me to "f**k myself" and get a lawyer to speak to him, Mr. Cutrone refused to even accept delivery of my attorney's certified letter, making it quite clear that he has no desire to negotiate any sort of resolution. His actions, or lack thereof force two choices: filing suit, or even more waiting indefinitely in the vain hope that he will finally decide to fulfill his business obligations.

Mr. Cutrone has managed to earn two more BBB complaints in a time period of less than two weeks since my first report, bringing the total to 10 in the last 12 months and garnering an Unsatisfactory rating. Good business? You be the judge. The situation is still wholly unresolved.
