On Wednesday, 01/10/07 on received a telephone call from the office of Christian Leslie, who was selling a coaching program for the John Alexander System. After speaking with both Mr. Leslie and his assistant and lengthy presentation, I ordered the coaching session at a cost of $10,600. Mr. Leslie's secretary Ruby took the order on Wednesday, 01/10/07. Both Mr. Leslie, his assistant and Ruby all stated that I would have a 3-Day period in which to cancel and receive a full refund.
After doing research on the company and program, and reading about a number of complaints alleging fraud, I decided to immediately cancel the program.
On Thursday, 01/11/07 (the next day) at 10:46 AM EST, I called the customer service number I was given the previous day (800/266-5664) and spoke with Steve. I requested that the program be cancelled and refunded back to my credit card. Steve accepted my request and stated that I would have to wait for the Resolution Department to call me back, within 72 hours. Steve assured me, at that point, that the waiting period would not effect my 3-day time period to cancel.
On Friday, 01/12/07 at 2:19 PM EST, I called the customer service number again and spoke with Tess. I requested to confirm that the program had been cancelled. Tess informed me that they had received my request and that I would need to wait for the resolution department to call me back. Tess stated, No matter how many times a day you call here, you will still need to wait for the resolution department to call you back and they have up to 72 hours to call you. I explained my concerns by stating, I only have 3-day to get this cancelled. Tess assured me that they had received my request on-time and stated, No one is trying to stop you from canceling, it's just our policy to have the resolutions department call.
On Monday, 01/15/07 @ 5:57 PM EST, a voicemail message was left for me. The person calling stated that they were calling from John Alexander and requested that I call back at 800/266-5664. I was not able understand the persons name from the recording, but it could possibly have been Steph or Tess.
I immediately called back, using the 800/266-5664 phone number that was left on the message. This call took place on Monday, 01/15/07 at 7:11 PM EST and I spoke to Steven. I stated that I had received a message, most likely from the resolutions department and was calling back.
Steven then asked for my telephone number and looked up my records. He stated, We were calling to confirm that you spoke to Ruby on 01/13 and that everything is OK and your staying in the program. I immediately corrected him by stating, I did not speak with anyone on 01/13 and I want the program cancelled. Steven then placed me on hold and about a minute later, came back on the line and stated that he had spoken to Ruby and that she remembers speaking to me on 01/13.
Again, I stated I did not speak with anyone on 01/13 and I want the program cancelled, as requested. Steven then stated that we record all of our calls, so I'm going to pull the tape and see. I was placed on hold again.
About a minute or so later, Steven came back on the line, asking for my three-digit security code from the back of my credit card. I declined to give him the information and asked Why? He stated that the person on the tape had given them that security code and he wanted to verify it.
I requested to listen to the recording. At this point, Steven attempted to play the recording for me, by placing his phone up to the computer speaker, as he explained to me. The recording was extremely difficult to hear. I could only make out one voice, which sounded like a male computer generated voice to me. When Steven came back on the line, I told him, That sounds like a computer generated voice to me.
At this point, Steven yelled, Oh..No, We're not going to play this game!! I yelled back, I'm tired of hearing all this Bullsh*t, I want to program cancelled and I want it cancelled now! Steven said, Well we have you on tape, and it clearly shows that you understood that all sales are final! At this point I hung-up the phone.
On the same day (Monday, 01/15/07) at 7:57 PM EST, I attempted to call again and spoke with Tess. After reviewing my records, she stated that I was told that all sales were final. I immediately corrected her by stating, That's now true and I asked to speak with a supervisor. Tess informed me that the supervisor had gone home for the day and that I would need to call tomorrow and ask for Steven Smith. Apparently, the Steven I had spoke to earlier was the supervisor. Tess stated, I can't take this situation any further, you'll need to speak with Steven about this. I asked who was above Steven and Tess stated, No One. At this point, I ended the phone call.

Thomas please read this:
They scammed me two years ago for more than $7,000 with a fake money back guarantee by a sleazebag named JAYDER SALAZAR.
Mentoring of America is based in Utah and sells garbage coaching for John Beck, John Alexander, and Jeff Paul. And they charge everyone differently depending on how much credit you have available. Everyone has paid anywhere from $1,500 to $15,000 for the same thing. The good thing is you got your money back.
EVERYTHING STEVEN IS TELLNG YOU IS A BUNCH OF BS!
They tell everyone that they "have you recorded on tape". That means nothing. Only written contracts on paper count and they know this.
You have nothing to worry about at this point since you got the charges reverse and closed the account. This is simply a downright criminal attempt by STEVEN to defraud you.
If I was you, I would tape record this sleazebag and turn the audio tape over to Utah investigator Ao Pauga. You can call him at 801-530-6601. He's helped me and others on this site get Mentoring of America to give us full refunds.
The truth is that Mentoring of America has been sued several times last year. They have even made the local news.
See this news video about the lawsuits filed against them:
www.wkrc.com/mediacenter/?videoId=10945=9
Also the Utah Division of Consumer Protection has been punishing and fining Mentoring of America for a good while now becaue they keep breaking consumer protection laws.
What you need to do is show that sleazebag Steven who called you asking for money this video, and all the complaints againts them.
I took it to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and got my money back. Since that time, I have taught other to do the same and I have personally caused Mentoring of America to have to refund people on this site more than $40,000 in just a few months. That was my sweet revenge. Tell Steven that for me will you?
Just do a search on Mentoring of America on this site and read all those complanits. You'll also find statement from former Mentoring of America employees speaking out and saying that they operate like a boiler room and that most of them are drug addicts.
It angers me to listen to what Steven told you when he called you back. It's almost like reliving my own experience. I just don't see how they can still be in business.
If I lived in Utah, I swear I'd do everything in my power to launch an undercover investigative news report on them. The do these a lot over here, and this puts them out of business.

Apparently, closing the account worked.
I received a call from "Steven" the "Call Center Manager" at Mentoring of America this evening (01/17/07). He stated to me, "I have spoken with your credit card company and they told me you were rejecting the charges." Even though technically the account is CLOSED, I did not really feel like arguing with this guy again, so I simply replied, "Yes".
Steven the told me that it will go into collections and he again insisted that they had me "on tape" agreeing that "all sales are final". I replied to him by stating, "If that's the case, then I'll get a lawyer and sue you."
He then went on and said, "I'll tell you what I can do. If you pay $3,200 to cover my expenses to Christian and Ruby for getting you into the program, then you'll be out of it." He went on and tried to tell me that I had no case and that I would loose to them in court.
It was a blatent attempt to scare and intimidate me. I told him straight out, "I'm not paying you anything and I'll look forward to seeing you in court."
He hastily replied, "Good, I'll be there!"

I checked with my bank today, regarding the status of their charge for $10,600 to my Credit Card. The bank explained to me that when a merchant makes a charge it is first considered a "temporary charge" and then the merchant has a certain number of days to complete the transaction. Apparently, Mentoring of America failed to meet this deadline and the temporary charge was dropped from my credit card account.
My bank agreed to close the account immediately and issue me a brand new number. They said this would prevent Mentoring of America or "John Alexander Seminar" or whatever they are calling themselves from re-charging the account.
