Recently my niece had an audition with John Robert Powers. She was extermly excited, and went through the first phase of the audition. At the initial audition she was told if she made it through she would be recalled the next day for her second audition.

We waited a period of great antentisapation and called back the next day. Upon calling back we were told that there would be a $2,000 fee for the first set of classes, then a $5,900 to advisce her to the next level. The fee was not mentioned at the audition or in any of the ads, her hopes were so high that she would be going on a television show.

When the childs family can not affaid the fee childs hopes and dreams where crushed, causing her to fall into a depression. I feel it is wrong for agentices to build up a childs hopes and dreams and then put a monentary value on them. Many people do not realize that agentices, like this exisit to scam money from people hoping to fulfill their childs dreams.

In Candace's opinion "Take the agentices and shove it up thier butts!!!"
Please be aware of these agentices, and check them out before raising your childs hopes.

No, DO YOUR research {to "do your research"}

Hey, my name is Raeanne and I am a great neice of John R. Powers. I was 15 when I went to a JRP company to audition. They had me audition for commercials, and print. It is a modeling agency as well as a training program. You can learn to become a model, and also they do help you get your proflie set up and if you are good enough, become a model. So I do not know where you are getting your info {commented to "do your research"} bc I know for a fact that they are both a school and modeling agency. As for having to pay that much of money, they don't ever really tell you how much it is in the beginning when you go to audition bc the auditions are FREE. And then if you get a call back, thats saying "Hey you've made it to the next step., but if you want to further your career in modeling, the training and portfolio will cost this much to get it all started" Nothing is free. Models dont' just become models, they work hard for it and have paid alot of money to be where they are at today. Tyra Banks paid over $20k to become a succesful model, but was making well over what she had to pay. And thats how you do it! You pay, and become succesful and get paid 3 times more.

I have been modeling for 6 years now {commercial print and tv commercials}. I have honestly, put alot of money into this, but have also recieved well over the amount I paid. Its kind of like a college loan. You get paid for going to college, but also have to pay them to continue going to school. make any sense? ok maybe not. What I am trying to say is, next time, before you get into something like this, make sure you check it out. Call someone who works there and ask them if it is a school for modeling or a modeling agency and how much itll cost you. And don't tell your daughter until you find out the facts and can pay for it all. I am pretty sure your daughter is very beautiful. John Casablancas is a modeling agency and training school. The cost is not as pricey, but they train you(u pay for) and then they take snapshots and photo shoots to get you started in modeling...check it out! Thats who I am through.

do your research

I felt I needed to point out that jrp is not a talent or model agency, and does not claim to be. They are a school, and when my daughter attended they went as far as to tell me "some people even take classes simply for better their social skills and to be more confident in life". That doesn't sound to me like a company scamming people by promising they'll "make it big".
