Jonathan Vu of Power Yachts International Bought a boat from this Scumbag and paid him $5,000 to have the engine replaced, but the engine was only painted instead!!! Cape Coral Florida

Mr. Goerger contacted Power Yachts International to inquire about a 2006 Rinker 232 Captiva that he and his wife subsequently purchased. He hired a mechanic to perform an inspection on the boat where it was determined the engine did not have proper compression. His mechanic prepared an invoice to replace the engine and the deal was renegotiated with the seller and the Goergers agreeing to split the costs.

Ms. Goerger secured a loan to cover the purchase price of the boat as well as the engine replacement. She signed an Addendum stating that the mechanic of her choice was solely in her employ and Power Yachts International was not responsible for any work performed by her mechanic. When the purchase was complete, Ms. Goerger elected to hire a different mechanic, Marine Transport One, who provided a lower quote to replace the engine than her original mechanic who performed the initial inspection. Additionally, Mr. and Ms. Goerger contracted this new mechanic to perform other repairs and maintenance work on the boat as well. They also hired him to transport the boat to their home in Virginia. 

When Mr. and Ms. Goerger’s mechanic, Marine Transport One, completed the work, they declined a follow up inspection by their original mechanic to confirm repairs were made to their satisfaction.  

Although we have sympathy for Mr. and Ms. Goerger, their grievance against Power Yachts International is misdirected. If their mechanic did not perform the work he was hired to do properly, that is an issue between the Goergers and their mechanic. 

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as well as the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services determined Jonathan Vu and Power Yachts International performed all tasks related to brokering this sale properly and in accordance with Florida Administrative Code to exercise due professional care. Both agencies dismissed Mr. and Ms. Goerger’s accusations and cleared Jonathan Vu and Power Yachts International of any wrongdoing.  

Power Yachts International, located in the prestigious Cape Harbour Marina, has been in business since 2010 and has purchased, sold and brokered hundreds of new and used boats. While the above situation is unfortunate, it is between the Goergers and their mechanic and does not diminish Power Yachts International’s solid reputation of honest straightforward business practices and commitment to stellar customer service.
