 At my initial interview I was impressed. However, it went downhill fast. I was switched to another attorney within two weeks. I had to come in for another interview, of course I had to pay for this again. Papers were suppose to be filed in Ulster Co., but this attorney filed in Orange Co.. Switched Back to original attorney. This April will be into its third year, and spent about $15,000 so far, with no end in sight. Four postponements so far, and another one coming up in April. Every time you go to court, you guessed it, it costs about another $1000, for what? Nothing! Simple divorce, no children involved and real estate sold and proceeds divided. Now I have another attorney on my case. I have requested numerous times updated financial papers with no success. On the court ordered net worth statement, the defendant stated a substantial auto loan, but at the deposition it came out the loan was paid off. I pointed this out to my attorney, and he did not address the situation. A loan was listed for $4000, taken out in 2009, yet 6 years later the balance due is more than the original loan. Never questioned. An auto loan listed for $35,000, 3 years later balance stated as $29,000. At this rate, this will be a 12 year auto loan! Never questioned. Life Ins policy listed with cash value of less than $3000, this is a $50,000 policy that is 25 years old. When I looked it up on the internet for a similar policy, the value is over 5 times that amount. Never questioned. Communications are very poor. Never received written proposals made by defendant. Most financial documents that should have been requested, I have never seen. Agreement calls for $250 per hour charge, looked at last bill, now charging$300! This firm is only interested in lining its own pocket.
