Joseph Drendel Architects TOOK MONEY, NEVER DELIVERED GOODS, AVOIDS ANY COMMUNICATION, TERRIBLE SERVICE, IGNORANT Naperville, Illinois

We hired Joseph P. Drendel - Architect out of Naperville, Illinois to do a simple 800sq. foot addition with a basement on the date of February 22, 2008. 2-3 weeks were given by Mr. Drendel as an estimated time of completion for detailed and dimensioned set of plans to submit for a village permit. We also needed these plans for securing the concrete work since their busy season was fast approaching. Mr. Drendel assured us he could do it no problem.

Unbelievably, 2 months later, we were no where with our addition plans. Joseph P. Drendel could not provide ANY useable, detailed or dimensioned plans that he was supposedly working on. This is an architect who, sadly, does not take clients or his work seriously. This is our first hand personal opinion and experience. He provided NOTHING we could use towards receiving a permit. He showed absolutely zero personality and was not pleasant to deal with at all. I wouldn't care about personality if he delivered the goods but trying to catch this guy on the phone was a painful ordeal and you were hurriedly hung up on after a few brief excuses as to why things were at a stand still. Most of the time I had to leave messages which were apparently ignored. Let me tell you, he wasted no time cashing our check after our first meeting to discuss what we needed done.

Mr. Drendel is apparently a busy man and out of town attending traveling sports A LOT. This is an important and understandable matter when presented at the table up front and honestly. We would have just gone somewhere else. I believe this is the problem for his lack of enthusiasm towards his paying customers and ignorance at what he should be providing as a serious business.

On the date of April 23, 2008 I dismissed Joseph P. Drendel as our architect in an email since I couldn't get through on the phone for a couple weeks. I described all the problems and explained how we were ignored beyond belief. That email was also ignored. I sent one last email on May 5th 2008, asking for a PARTIAL refund. That, also, was ignored. We are now out $700.

To me, if someone is serious about their business, they would want to please their clients, not ignore them and take their money and give nothing in return. In these rocky and turbulent economic times it is bad enough. You do not need other people ripping you off of your hard-earned money.
