I have known Joy Denton since 2004.  I moved here from Europe that year. She was a friend of someone I knew at Sothebys in London. I contacted her to be my realtor when I was trying to buy a house in 2015.  I thought I could trust her.  She was a horrible agent.  I told her what I was looking for which was a house in Beverly Hills, basically a turn key sale for my whole family.  I told her my price range was $1.7 to $2 million.  After I told her my criteria she started e-mailing me properties to look at.  Nothing was even close to what I wanted.  Every single house was in horrible shape and a fixer-upper.  I looked at close to twenty homes.  They all had holes in the walls and nasty interiors.  I mean these places were REALLY dirty and nasty.  I would not even want my dog to stay in a few of these places, seriously.

During the 'showings' we had lunch four times. Every single time I bought my own lunch.  She did not even offer to drive.  I put close to 200 miles on my car in these showings.  I guess I was confused about how a realtor treats you in the United States.  I finally found my own house and sent her the listing so we could look at it.  She drew up a contract and there was $45,000 in additional fees tacked on that we had not discussed.  Because she said the 4 percent in fees we had agreed upon was not enough, Joy said.  I walked away from the table and found a much better realtor.

Because she was my 'friend' I had not even bothered to check her out in advance.  When I did, I wondered why all the reviews I'd read about her on the internet were positive.  Turns out she has her husband Craig doing most of the reviews.  That got me curious enough to check out her story that she has a degree in Environmental Design in Syracuse New York.  Turns out she does not.  She majored in it and dropped out.  You really should check out her credentials yourself before doing business with her.

Scam Report

AUTHOR: Joy - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, April 04, 2016

1. I never heard of Reginald McHenry. I have no idea who Reginald McHenry is.

2. He never contacted me to be his Realtor.

3. There was nowhere near 20 homes available in Beverly Hills in the price range this man states he viewed in 2015.

4. Since I don't know this man, I never had lunch with him.

5. Even if you were to look at 20 homes in Beverly Hills, you wouldn't drive anywhere close to 200 miles.

6. The seller pays the real estate commission.  There would never be an agreement between us for this man as a buyer, to pay me a 4% fee...and certainly not an additional $45,000.

7. My husband has never posted any reviews about me.

8. I was accepted to Syracuse University on an early admissions basis after skipping a year of high school. I graduated from Syracuse University, and I have a BS degree in Environmental Design from Syracuse University.

9. I have received numerous awards, commendations, letters of recogntion, etc., over the many years of my real estate career.  All of the information on my bio is true. This includes being named in the top 1% of Sotheby's International Realty nationwide.

10. This man's report is entirely false and a complete hoax, without any merit whatsoever.
