I received a gift card for christmas and purchased a Bissell Clear View Steam Machine. I was so excited. I cleaned the carpet in my living room, which is 12feet by 15feet. I was very satisfied with the job it did. I changed the water and proceeded to clean my dining room........

This is where everything went wrong. I used the hand wand to clean the 2 steps that go from my living room to my dining room. After cleaning one step the machine made a high pitched, whining noise and all suction and water spray stopped. I unplugged the machine, checked all the hoses for kinks, blockages, or other damages. I looked under it, in it, and all around it to see if I could see any reason why this noise was occuring and I found nothing.

I called the Bissell Company at the number listed on the warranty information. They told me that since I had only purchased the machine 3 days prior I should return it to the store, K Mart in West Duluth, Minnesota, and exchange it for another one. Keep in mind that I live 45 miles away. I drove to the store and their customer service employee told me that I needed to contact Bissell.

I told them I had. They told me there was nothing I could do because I bought it on sale and the product was last years model and they did not have any more. I left, called Bissel again and they told me that they trust the merchants that carry their products to deal with these matters, so I was on my own. Now I still have this thing in my house and the only fuction it serves is as a door stop.

Bissell has been good to me,I lost receipt and also opened machine up,and they still fixed it for me,Great company.All you have to do is call and really bi-ch,and ask for a superviser,also tell them you will never bye a product of theirs again-It will work for you.Good luck!!
