Kanoa promoted itself as a wireless earphone company that engaged the latest cutting edge technology.  It described the Kanoa earphones as the leader in the wireless earphone retail space and even sold itself as having the endorsement of many professional athletes.  As an avid runner looking for wireless earphones to wear while running and working out, I became interested in Kanoa's product.

In early 2015, I cam across Kanoa's Kickstarter campaign, offering investers a discount on pre-ordered wireless earphones.  I placed an investment/pre-order of $179 in "Batch 2" of Kanoa's production batches and began to wait patiently for my earphones to arrive.  My $179 pre-order was processed shortly thereafter, yet I heard nothing from Kanoa until September 2015 when I began receiving semi-regular emails from the company purporting to give me updates on the production of the Kanoa wireless earphone development.

The emails pitched different promotions and asked pre-order purchasers to promote the Kanoa headphones to family and friends.  This seemed innocent at the time, but now appears as though Kanoa was leveraging early purchasers to market pre-orders for a product that we now know was never developed for sale or delivery.  As time elapsed, the emails proivded a look into the company - whether the content was true or not, I now question - as what appeared to be an attempt to try to legitimize its business amongst growning unrest amid Kanoa's consistent production delays.

Then in early 2017, the emails became sparse.  I assumed this was to make way for a production launch.  Kanoa's website regularly noted it was very close to pruduction and just a few months ago pruported to begin mailing fulfilled orders to purchasers in Batch 1.  After a week or so of "production fulfillment," I received an email from Kanoa (dated 8/23/17) titled "Important Notice" stating Kanoa encountered an "unfortunate roadblock" and forwarded viewers to a webiste where Kanoa stated it was essentially going out of business.

I feel as though the whole Kanoa pitch was a fraud.  It sought to raise money off the backs of earnest purcahsers by stating it had developed a product that was never really developed, then tried to leverage those who had placed orders to further its capital raising efforts.  At the end of the day, Kanoa schemed its purchasers and never provided a product.
