I purchased a used 2010 Chevy HHR from my local Dodge Dealer and they insited on me getting this "great" auto security system. They wouldn't take no for an answer so home I went with this "great" auto security system. First off all Gm/Chevrolet cars that have OnStar GPS that will stop your car literally if its stolen. The problem with the Karr system is all the great things that newer cars have like remote door unlock/lock (OnStar), Tire Pressure Monitors that you use your alarm remote to program when tires are rotated or you get new tires, or even your actual key to unlock the door, will NOT work with this system!!!! If you have OnStar unlock/lock your doors the Karr system will go off.

If you unlock your door with the key the Karr system will go off!! and forget reprogramming your tire pressure monitors location change when tires are rotated/replaced. This system is useless in any newer car especially any GM/Chevrolet that has OnStar. All newer cars have a better system already installed at the factory!!! so this is just added crap that costs $800. I never needed this system in the first place. After finding out how redundant this system is I've stopped using it and use my factory alarm instead. I wish it was never installed!!!

Its a total ripoff don't fall for the hype at the dealership especially if you have a car with OnStar or a similar system installed at the factory don't waste your money on this scam. They really talk up this system so you'll buy it when your already dealing with financing etc. They know your under pressure and stressed with all the added "options" when all you want is your new car. They take advantage of this and trick you into buying this useless crap of a system that makes most of your new cool features useless. DO NOT BUY THE KARR AUTO SECURITY SYSTEM if your buying a newer car at the dealer its a total scam you don't need it.

I have KARR on my 2004 Buick Regal (has OnStar) and on my 2008 Toyota Camry. Yes, they are overpriced for what the KARR system does, but have had no such experience on either of my vehicles. No key problems. Matter od fact the alarm went off at 4AM one night when I had my Camry in driveway, and as it happens my bedroom window looks right out on driveway. The would-be thieves actually had a flat-bed backed up and in the process if attempting to winch my Camry on the flat-bed. It was a tow company with cardboard duct-taped over the logo on door.  I grabbed my Glock and went out front door, and by the time I reached driveway it was just in time to see the flat-bed scooting away and left behind several chains, The cops never put much effort in to an investigation, they would-be thieves were never caught. But if not for the KARR my Camry would be gone. And insurance would never have paid enough to replace it with an equal car.
