I purchased some pizza screens from this company on the internet being very careful to get the total before completing the transaction including the shipping total.
Total came to 93.25. I clicked the purchase button.
Next day I got a charge on my debit card bank statement online of $107.24.
When I phoned them to find out what happened they told me it would drop off and I'd get the amount I agreed to in a few days on my statement.
I asked why this happened and was told by their customer service that she didn't know why "they" do that.
Very convenient using the "they" comment. Sleazy behavior. And no doubt the higher amount would stand if I hadn't noticed this and complained.
They won't get my business in the future and I told them so.
What if this overdrafted my account (it didn't - but could have). I'd be paying overdraft fees. Very sleazy.

We sincerely apologized for the bad experience you had with our customer service specialist. Our system is designed to pre-authorize 15% more than what the authorized charge is. Once the order is processed, the actual amount will be charged correctly and the pre-authorized amount will drop off. Unfortunately, banks treat and display all pre-authorization as actual charge for all debit card accounts. We apologized that this information was not communicated properly back to you. We greatly appreciate you sharing this information with us as we will use this to better improve our training program with our customer service specialist.
