Like another Ripoff Report individual, I downloaded the Kazaa Gold thinking it would be a great deal. After downloading the software, I tried to connect to the server, but it would not connect. I let it try to connect for over 8 hours (overnight).
The next morning I was still not able to connect so I called their support phone number. They sent me an email directing me to another site where I could download music. They said this was necessary because Kazaa Gold was not compatible with my antivirus software. Once I tried downloading music from the other site, there was no difficulty, no fees, and this site works INDEPENDENTLY from Kazaa. You don't even have to register or share files ! I guess they make money from side panel ads.
When I realized that I couldn't use the Kazaa program, and that I could get the music without all the mumbo jumbo, I called and asked for a refund. They said they wanted to send an email with on more "work around" and hung up. As soon as received the email I told them politely that I wanted my money back as it had barely been 24 hours. They again sent me an email asking me to try another "fix". I would have called them back however their call center had already closed at 5pm. I tried emailing them once more and I received the following from my email program.
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
support@mykazaagold.com
Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 553 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1) (state 14).
What happened here is that they blocked out my emails ! I tried once more just in case it was some type of glitch since I didn't do a thing but hit "reply" so it couldn't be a problem with the address. Guess what? I received the same error ! I immediately called my credit card company and they decided to research the situation.
Bottom line, No one needs Kazaa, and their business is a scam !
BTW anyone can download free music at HuntMyMusic.com

#1 UPDATE Employee
We did not block anyones email
AUTHOR: Thompson - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, January 01, 2009
We don't even have the ability to block emails from getting to our inbox. That message is provided by the email provider and was a Google issue, and not us at all.
As far as the support this customer received, it sounds to me like we were able to get him downloading music. MyKazaaGold offers a membership to our services which they can access from ANY computer. In the event they are unable to connect to the network on a specific computer, we do whatever it takes to get them downloading music and that includes providing access to some of our competitors if that is what it takes to make them a satisfied customer.
This customer saw that email message and incorrectly assumed that we blocked him and, in turn, was unwilling to allow us to help them any further. For that I apologize.
