Keiser University will lie to get your money!! Ft. Lauderdale Florida

I was contacted by Keiser university in March 2013. I was attending another college at the time taking my prerequisites for the nursing program. Keiser told me I could finish my prerequisites faster and start school sooner if I transferred to their university. I was hesitant because I have never had to come out of pocket for classes before because my grants always covered them.

I signed up at Keiser when I only had two classes remaining to take for my prerequisites. I was told I could start the nursing program in September 2013 instead of waiting till January for my current college. After finishing my two classes I called the school to schedule my TEA's exam (the exam needed for entrance into the nursing program) and was told the program was full until May 2014!!! I was shocked!!

I asked my advisor when the program had filled up and she stated she didn't know. I then emailed the associate dean to find out when the program had filled up. He advised me that it had been full since January 2013. That was 3 months before I was told I could get into that program!! They lied to my face just to get me into the school and take my money.

I asked what I could do and they told me to transfer to their West Palm Beach campus that they had a spot open for September. I called WPB and they began to transfer my file. A few days later I received a call from them and was told there was a hold on my file in financial aid and to call Ft. Lauderdale and see why.

I called Fort Lauderdale and left a message with my advisor to see what the problem was. I received an email a few days later advising me I had an outstanding balance due of over $4,000 that needed to be paid within 10 days or I would be sent to collections!! I explained I applied for financial aid and was to be given loans to cover the tuition. They told me the loans didn't process in time and I owed the balance!!!

I asked why my loans didn't process and they said the file didn't make it through the review process in their office in time to be submitted. They had the file on their desks for over 2 months and never applied for my loans. By the time they tried to apply for the loans I had already finished my 2 classes and was done and was waiting to start the nursing program. They told me since I was done with my classes I was no longer considered a student and they couldn't apply for any loans so I had to pay for the classes.

I called everyone I could from the dean, finanical aid advisor, bursars office, president of the school and the chancellor of the university to get this cleared up and NOBODY was willing to fix it!!!! I was told unless I pay the balance in full that they will not give me my transcripts!!

My education is now being put on hold because they didn't pay attention to my file and they don't care. They could care less about the student only about the money!! I don't have $4,000 to pay them so I cannot get my transcrpits and I cannot start school anywhere!!!

They lied to get me in the door and they now have my life in their hands!! They don't care about how their actions effect anyone. If i stayed at my original school I would be signed up for the nursing program and be starting in a few months. Now since I transferred to Keiser I may never get the chance to pursue my dream of nursing! I do not reccomend this school to ANYONE!! Stay far far away!!!!
