I was contacted by Kemper and told I could have a lower cost for auto Insurance. I gave them all my information and #s they said I needed for a background check. I was given a quote.

Based on that Quote I switched companies. After one month I was told another price. Ofter another month they charged me even more. The cost of my new insurance was now 1000.00 more than my old. They claimed it was based on a ticket they did not know about because they did not have my Ma. drivers licsence # yet they had my SS number and at the time of the quuote said they checked my past driving record.

The claim was that a speeding ticket from 3 years prior rose my premium 800.00. Had I been told this I would not have switched companies. (My old campany got all my records with my SS #). Then the went back to the day I started my policy and changed the pricing structure and even though I had made all my payments the sent me a bill for the difference after I cancelled them.

I recieved new insurance from another company for far less than they were trying to cheat me for, it was a bait and switch operation all the way.

Then when I tried to resolve it they just used reporting me to a credit bureau as a threat wich they did and now my credit has been damaged. Thanks , Jim Canty

Ridiculous accusation

First off, I know Kemper's procedures and to receive a quote, they base everything off of what you tell them. Which means, if your case, you did NOT tell them about your ticket upfront. Had you done that, you would avoided this little unpleasant experience in the first place.

Your rate would not have changed price twice - that's not Kemper's flow.

Unfortunately, your state does not provide online motor vehicle reports, and they can NOT be ordered by SS#.

So, again, you got your quote based on what YOU told them, and then they changed it based on information returned from the reports.

I think you will admit that you are more ticked that the rate increased $800, which is understandable. It cannot be a bait-and-switch when you did not disclose correct information to receive the quote (whether you forgot the ticket is not their fault). Maybe you didn't lie, but they also did not have all the information neeed to properly rate the risk.

In the end, hopefully, this will make it clear to you to be 100% upfront about your driving record.
