Just wanted to let people know about this guy, Kenneth E. Prather, Sr. He claims to be a big time divorce lawyer in Michigan. He is 74 years old. He was born in 1933. A jury recently found this guy guilty of malpractice and fraud. The victim was awarded $167,000 in damages. Prather taped his victim with her knowledge. Prather used words to his client like, "You will win" and "You have nothing to worry about". What lawyer do you know says things like that? Below is an excerpt from the court ruling.

The jury found that defendant, Kenneth E. Prather, Sr. had committed legal malpractice but that this malpractice... It also found that defendant had committed both actual and silent fraud, and listed damages of $167,000 as the award for each of these
counts.

I recommend reading this case closely before hiring this guy.

Please get facts straight before posting

AUTHOR: Jane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 19, 2009

Having been a personal friend of the accused for almost 40 years, I cannot help but point out the errors in the above commentary. It is highly distressing to me that such unfounded and inaccurate statements can be so easily spewed.

First of all, and I'm not sure why this has anything to do with the case sited, Ken Prather's wife died in February of 2005. You can verify this fact easily by doing a Google search. I have no idea where the writer came up with 2007. It immediately reduces the credibility of this writer and it should in anyone else's who is reading this.

Secondly, if you have ever visited Ken's house and toured his "musty old basement", you would actually know that it is neither musty nor old and there is no copier next to the washer and dryer. It is located in the office area, but who cares? And again, what in the world does that have to do with anything? Misinformation and a lack of facts destroys the credibility of the writer.

Why the writers seem intent on painting a horrible picture of a hard-working attorney working out of his home is beyond me. Many professionals work out of their homes. It is a highly economical way to run a business. I don't know if the city had a problem with that or not. If there are laws against, it then I'm sure the law will be followed.

It just seems to me that a few whiny individuals are trying to destroy the livelihood of a kind-hearted, dedicated and thoughtful man. Why? Please find something better to do with your time and energy.

No more clients in Ken's basement. City of GP cracks down

AUTHOR: Thomas magnum - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Word on the street, specifically, Stratford Place, is that the City of Grosse Pointe, said Ken Prather can't see clients at the house any more. They sent him a cease and desist in January and he didn't respond for at least a month! Seems the neighbors didn't like Ken getting Fedexs, seeing clients, collecting attorney fees, getting child support checks dropped off at all hours of the day and night. Grosse Pointe might be down but we ain't out and Ken Prather can't run a law business from his basement. He can have a secretary there to help him but no more clients at 5 Stratford Place. Wouldn't an experienced member of the bar and long time Grosse Pointer, know you can't run a business out of your home? Or maybe he thought he would get away with it? Either way, if you want to see Kenneth E. Prather, Sr., you gotta meet up some where else.

Office space

AUTHOR: Thomas magnum - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 16, 2008

This superlawyer actually works out of his old, musty basement. There is more office space in Detroit than unemployed autoworkers and this senior citizen actually has a copier next to his washer and dryer. Is that your pleading or my old sock?

More information

AUTHOR: Thomas magnum - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 05, 2008

It is available at the Oakland County Court House for free. You can see some highlights online. Google Ken Prather fraud and more details will come up. There are some nice documents on flickr. Actual documents signed by the man himself. Ken threatens to go bankrupt. Ken's insurance won't cover him. Ken's client questions his honesty and integrity. Divorce is hard enough can you imagine not being sure if your attorney was honest? Woweewow.

Wife died last year (2007). Please upload your receipt for the transcripts of this trial that you are using. My guess is you don't have one! The pages you uploaded were probably copied from his office, removed and used illegally. Get on with your life! People who throw mud always gets some on themself.

The jury came back with a verdict. A verdict. If his wife died, he should have stopped practicing law and not committed silent fraud. I guess the jury didn't buy the wife died excuse either.

1990's

AUTHOR: Barry53 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 03, 2008

This was from the mid 90's and taken out of context. This just got uploaded by a disgruntled past employee. Prather's office manager/wife died and he moved his office to a smaller space and could not take everyone. I suggest this past employee get over it and do something useful, like get a job.
