In April 2009, I was notified by Ed Popal of Keystone Capital who said that I had been approved for an equipment lease after I submitted all required paperwork including a current credit report. I was asked to overnight a signed copy of proposal and a check for $1,500 (first and last month payments). I was told numerous times that all processing and lending is done in house and that after they receive the deposit I should have the equipment within 10 days.
After sending the money, I did not hear from Ed Popal. I called and was directed to a Rueben Adams. I was informed that they needed additional documents. I responded immediately to their request. After not hearing a response, I contacted them again. I was informed that the delay was do to more documents being needed. I again sent the required documents immediately. This happened on three separate occasions. I asked how this could be happening if they do all the lending in house. I was then informed that they do not do all the lending in house and this was requests by other underwriters.
After more than 5 weeks of contacting them and being passed around between Rueben Adams and Matt Fitch, I was told that they would not be able to make the lease.
I was never provided a denial letter or a return of my money. They stated that half of my money was being kept for a processing fee. When I objected and stated that the proposal said ALL money was to be returned if the lease did not occur at no fault of the lessee. When objected, they stated that they would be sending me a formal letter. To date, I never received a penny of my deposit nor a letter pertaining to the reason for the denial. I think they never intended to issue the lease and it was nothing but a swindle.
I have read the rip-off report submitted by David Campbell pertaining to his experience with Keystone Capital. His situation is almost identical and happened within weeks after mine. I am sorry I did not report this earlier to save him the headaches and aggravation that I had to endure.
I checked my credit report to see if any leasing companies pulled my credit within that time frame. I found that Financial Pacific Leasing had looked into my credit. I contacted them directly and had my equipment within a few weeks at smaller payment. If you enjoy extreme aggravation, losing money and being made a fool of...then Keystone Capital is your company!
