I bought a new 2007 KIA Spectra June 4, 2007. I put $5000 down and have paid my payments since I got it. Always on time. I have had more trouble and got stranded for times in the last six months with this new KIA than I did in 10 years of owning a Toyota. That definitely sounds like a total contradiction to what KIA claims about their cars.

I have had it towed three times and it has been in the shop about 10 times and repaired 4 times. The problem still exsist after all the repairs and replacements of computers, brains, and checking all the firing system and ignition.

Every time my car simply fails to start, I call the Kia 800 # and the dealer I purchased it from to let them know that it is not working properly. Occassionaly they will call me back and tell me to take it to the dealership and they will have their technician look at it.

I always take it like they say to and leave it. They have told me everytime that Kia does not offer a rental or loaner car program so you are on your own to rent a car. Everytime they end up renting me a car or letting me borrow one until mine is ready. Of course my car being ready means that they have kept it for a day or two or maybe even three but they say it is working fine for them.

They have expressed Kia's stand on the whole deal and it is "they will continue to work on it and try to figure it out but they will not replace it. The only way that will happen is if you take us to court."

SO I contacted an attorney and he got all the info of what happened. He kept it for a couple of weeks and then his legal assistant emailed me to tell me that they suggest if Kia will offer me $1000 to $1500 I should take it. My point is, I do not want their money. I want a car that runs right. I am not sure where to go but I just tonight filed a claim with BBB and we will see where it goes.

Also. If you are going to court. Look up the TSB's for your vehicle. These are Technical Service Bulletins @ NHSTA.gov. TSB's are nicknamed "secret warranties". They are problems the company knows about but have not issued a recall yet. Get the consumer action handbook at ConsumerAction..gov. Only communicate with Manufacturer by certified mail...He said-she said will get you nothing. DON'T PAY AN ATTORNEY TO DO WHAT YOU HAVE WAY MORE INCENTIVE TO GET DONE RIGHT!! Take them to civil court and bring up the TSB's. Watch them cringe.Be polite at all times. It's business, even though to you it is very personal. Just a suggestion.

Dear unfortunate soul. I have just had an arbitration vs Kia. It is my undrestanding the rules for this state (IN) that you must not have already contacted legal council in order to qualify for the BBB Auto line to arbitrate. Try the Attorney Generals Office next........Good Luck!

Ask your attorney to see if the State Lemon Law applies in this case. The BBB may be able to help, I'm sure you know Kia's Corporate Headquarters is in Irvine. You may want to pay them a visit.
