Beware...

To try make a long story short.. for starters I brouhgt my truck in to K&M Transmissions in St. John Indiana about a month ago and received sub par customer service from the moment I walked in. The guy at the counter (which I later found out was the owner) totally ignored me by talking to an employee about absoultely nothing while I just stood there waiting on him to finish his conversation to slackly address me.

Secondly, I was told that my vehicle was going to be ready a few hours later. I didn't hear from them until the morning when I checked my messeges. I had been working on changing the gear oil before I had to  suddenly get work done on my transmission leak. So, I had my car towed in to K&M Transmission and told them to only fix the transmission issue and to remove the two rusted bolts from my gearr pan. I made sure that I stressed the fact that I was going to take care of completing the job I had started. I was told My repair price was $250.

When I went in to get my truck, they told me that I owed them $500. I refused to pay and asked for a manager. A few minutes later, the owner came storming out the door and went to take off MY parts that I bougt that were in my truck (I suspect someone was looking in my vehicle to even know that I had the parts for the job I inteded to finish)

To add. They not only tried to rob me for a job that I didn't authorize them to do but had the nerve to try to tack on an extra $250 for a 15 min job in which they used MY New Parts  !  The owner then started to verbally abuse me and told me that he "hopes my truck blows up on me when I pull off".  and that " I'm trying to get something for free"  etc etc  Do Not Go To These Jerks !!!

The Truth of the Matter

AUTHOR: K & M Transmissions - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, December 10, 2013

There are two sides of every story and in this case you cannot make a long story short without leaving out all of the facts. This customer had just purchased this truck and had leaks immediately, he was also refered to my company. After checking it out we had found a cracked tailhousing. My counterman had given the estimate of parts and labor $250, as well as explained the risk of further driving. He took the truck and after price shopping had made an appointment and had it Towed back in.

As far as being ignored on arrival, It is first come first serve, so if someone was being dealt with at the counter, one must wait their turn. He explained to me on dropoff that he had it towed in because he tried performing his own diff service and stripped out three of the bolts and that he needed it by the end of the day. I explained that we could extract them at a time and material basis. The customer agreed and said to call him. When my technician pulled the truck in he noticed the new diff cover on the passengers seat in plain sight- we definetly didn't go rummaging through his truck to find it.

The tech explained to me about the bolts and the cover being bent in half, I then called the customer and got no answer but left a message stating the bolt extraction, fluid and labor would be $115. With no call back or answer again close to the end of the day, knowing he needed it by the end of the day and not being out of line on my pricing, I tried using common sense and told my tech to finish the repairs. The next morning he shows up to pick up his truck and is ignorantly telling my counterman he didn't authorize the extra repairs and isn't paying for them.

The customer is correct in the fact that he technically didn't authorize the extra $115 but was nothing short of trying to get something for free. Being wrong I wasn't going to argue or cry about $115 I simply removed the cover and gave him his parts back, he still received the 3 bolts extracted for free. This customer is upset only due to the fact that his free scam didn't work here. I assure you we have the most honest and qualified staff and that NO ONE is getting ripped off. Looking back I value my reputation more that this and would gladly have given him $115 in free repairs, then to deal with anything like this, especially sense its not true !
