I am a single mother with two children, one mine and one adopted. On December 21st i was connened in Wal-mart while I helping a woman select some candles. While I was being attentive to her; another woman was able to switch carts with me without my knowijng it; taking my purchases (as well as my purse) that was in my cart, while exchanging her cart for mine. Security was unable to retrieve my cart, belongings or purse because by the time I figured out what was going on, they were gone. .. While i thought I was helping someone, her partner was able to bump my cart out of the way and take my belongings.

On December 24th I was Christmas shopping with my mother at Kohl's and I attempted to reeturn 2 shirts (with my receipt) at the Rockwall location. i wa told I would NOT be able to return these items without a picture ID which I had just had stolen at Wal-mart. I conceeded and went on with my shopping. I paid for approximately $325 in items while waiting for my mother to finish her shopping.

She had placed items in my cart while attempting to continue to shop for my Christmas gifts (that were supposed to be a suprise for me). I registered out earlier and acknowledged to both the cashier and the security guard that there were 5 items in my cart that were going to be paid for by my mother ($115 in items) that was still shopping. The security guard checked my receipt with his highlighter and I was allowed to leave under the condition that I would return back into the store and allow my mother to pay for the 5 items.

Upon crossing the threashold I was apprended both by the same employee (that had authorized me to take my purchased items to the car and to return with the items belonging to my mother) but along with another woman I had never seen before. The security guard clarified to me that he "knew" I was I was a "thief" because I was unable to return the original items I had (even with my receipt) because I did not have a picture I.D.

I was arrested and and taken to jail and charged with theft over $100. with a $500 bond. It took me 3 days to get out. I cannot understand why this company would have done this to me. I am heartbroken and without understanding what is actually happening to me.

So, they let you leave the store with just a promise that someone else was going to pay for the stuff in the cart? Tell your fiction to Reader's Digest.

Your story does not sound right

No cashier, and especially a security guard would let you walk out of the store with unpaid merchandise believing you will be honest and come in and pay for the rest. They would be risking their jobs if they did that. They would make you leave the unpaid items with the cashier and pick them up when you are ready to checkout a second time. Sounds to me like they handled the situation appropriately.
