1. In 2010 I made the mistake of leasing through Konica Minolta QDS leasing services. If you can avoid doing this please do at all costs. First of all there is a $200.00 fee you pay for them to do the paperwork on their lease. It's like you are paying them wages for just doing their job, RIPOFF!

2. Second they will charge you insurance on their unit while it is in your place of business and it's not cheap folks.

3. They will deliver the printer to you in a box and let it sit in your place of business. They'll say don't bother with it until we have a representative come and show you how to use it. Did you know that you are being charged for the time that it sits there in the box? Yup, before you can even use the printer you are being charged for it....RIPOFF!

4. Do you think you can do a buy off from the leasing company? If that's what you got from the contract then you didn't read it carefully. You can buy the printer out right but here's what it's going to cost you. The price of all the payments you have left plus the cost of the printer itself at fair market value...Did you get that? Lets say you owe four thousand dollars on a six thousand dollar loan. If you pay off the four thousand dollars you still have to pay off the fair market price for the printer. So if they say the printer is worth $2500.00 dollars you will end up paying that plus the four thousand. They don't want you to quit the lease folks...RIPOFF!

When you lease anything you are obligated to pay the doc fee. So if you where not told about this fee that's one thing but the $200 fee is common practice from any vendor. You where charged for the time it was in the box because you signed the delivery and acceptance. If you dont sign the form or give a verbal they will not charge you the interim rent until you do.

You have multiple lease options you can choose from. It looks like you chose the fair market value lease which gives you the option to purchase the machine or return it at the end of the term. You are responsible for reading the terms and condition. If you are a business owner its your job to decide whats best for the company and READ the fine print.

De Lage Landen Leasing for Konica Minolta

I understand your plight.  I too leased a copier from Konica Minolta in 2007 and my lease in now ending.  I have had nothing but problems with the leasing company De Lage Landen.  I finally got the end of lease payment invoice.

To start they have been charging me the wrong tax rate for 3 years and even after being told 2 years ago they never corrected it.  Their accounting process is so screwed up no auditor can figure out how they arrive at their end of lease charges.  When you ask them to explain how they arrive at the end number they tell you they do not have to figure it out and you have to send them proof of all your payments for the term of the lease.  This is their email:

"you are contesting charges owed on your account.  we cannot reconcile an account if you, as the customer, does not provide the account history of payments sent in.  contesting charges owed on an account would require a history of payments sent in by the lessee with the invoice number they were intended to pay.  your company has not provided this information so informing my company what amount you are going to pay, will not facilitate the reconcilliation of the account, if one needs to be done.?

It is difficult to deal with a person with a 3rd grade education as it seems the account representatives at De Lage Landen have.

They will not explain the end charges and the spreadsheet they send makes no sense at all.

This is part of their business plan to hold you hostage as they will not give you the return shipping destination to return the copier until you pay the arbitrary amount they demand.

I would suggest not leasing a copier from Konica Minolta as they make very poor decisions when it comes to the company they choose for their lease management.
