Recently, Kroger changed their gas savings program. In the past, you got four fill-ups per month based on last month's purchases. At $150, you got $.10/gallon on four fill ups which incremented up to $.50 for higher purchases.
Now you get $.10 off per gallon per 100 points, up to $1/gallon off on a single fill-up ($1 spent still equals one point). This seems less generous, however I was going to try it. The problem is the points don't all seem to be available when I reach the pump.
Kroger sent me two coupons worth 500 bonus points for June and July. I redeemed both of them in each month and with regular shopping my store receipts read about 700 points.
In June, I never saw the 700 points show up at the gas station. I e-mailed Kroger and they sent me a boiler plate response with a link to the gas program information on their website.
Why not go to customer service in the store? I don't typically save grocery receipts, so I didn't have anything to go on with local customer service. There is no way to see the activity on your account as far as I can tell.
This month (July), I ran our minivan to fumes and had two five gallon cans to capture what I thought would be $.70/gallon savings based on my last receipt which had over 700 points.
The pump only offered a $.50 discount. My desire to fill and lug an extra ten gallons of highly flammable liquid and store it in my garage waned, so I just filled the van and left.
I'm done basing purchases at Kroger on this shifty gas program. Anything I happen to get at Kroger or Shell (this seems like a shell game, ironically) will be a bonus. All gift cards (which sometimes is HUNDREDS at a time) will be purchased over at Giant Eagle which I believe has a better program and has never had a malfunction such as this. I also have no incentive to go out of my way to a Kroger gas station four times in a month.

It's a bonus program designed for BONEHEADS.
You'll save NO MONEY in the end with their CHEAP GAS. As the wise man posted above just check your mpgs.
And expect knocking, lower performance, and an overhaul in your future.
WISE UP people and quit doing SILLY THINGS!

Is anyone reading my story? My earned points are not available as expected when I get to the pump. I'm stating fact, not really complaining that the program isn't as good as it used to be, nor am I doubting the quality of the gasoline.

You're complaining that the bonus program isn't as good as it used to be? Um, ok... You're still ahead of the customers at other gas stations that pay full price, so I'd hardly call this one a ripoff.
I highly doubt that the gas is "watered down", Smackdown. It may be cheaper gas, but you can DEFINITELY tell when you've got water in your gas tank.

I shop at Kroger and enjoy the $0.10 off gas - helps when gas is $3.65 in Dallas. They also offer $1.00 off a gallon at their own stations. Just the price of doing business and the economy. I choose to use every option to save my hard earned money. Not a scam just basic business practice.
