This is a follow up story on unclaimed or abandoned pet and wine reward certificates issued by ralphs grocery company to their customers who spend a lot of money on pet items as well as wine in 750 ml. bottles. In my previous story I gave an overview of how ralphs neglects to reward these customers after they have met all of the requirements of the certificates. The company refuses to automatically redeem these reward certificates which were automatically tracked and issued by the company. Recently the company has terminated these reward programs and have come up with a new reward program which is a much smaller reward.

My biggest concern is what will happen to the millions of dollars in unclaimed or abandoned reward certificates which still exist. These certificates represent a large profit for the company if not redeemed by the customers who they are entitled to. The certificates have already been accounted for by the company and if not given to the customers, will result in large profits for the company.

The termination of these rewards programs shows that what the company was doing was wrong, and they got caught. The company should give the customers who earned these certificates their money owed to them. Instead of using the certificates to purchase pet and wine items, these customers have had to pay ralphs money for these items, thus ralphs keeps the customers money as well as their certificates. What kind of rewards program is that? Maybe that is why they terminated it and came up with a new type of rewards program. They also changed every employees uniform color to red. They are trying to create a new image to go along with their new rewards program. Let us just hope that they do the right thing and give their loyal customers the rewards they had earned previously.

Ralph's is under no legal obligation offer you a rewards program. It's their right to terminate it if they want to. You act like they're stealing money from your bank account. Why don't you go to McDonald's and complain that they cancelled the Monopoly promotion?

From what I understand, they switched everyone over to the new Rewards program because in a way it is better. Even though this report was posted in June, I am sure you have already received your Rewards Certificate and have probably earned as much, if not more than what you were receiving with the Wine and Pet Clubs, and have probably gotten over the change. Instead of earning points on just the Wine and Pet items, you earn points on pretty much everything you buy! And your Rewards Certificate can be used on most of your groceries, instead of just specifically on wine and pet items.

As far as the shirts going red, it is not true. There are still many stores with either the brownish grayish color, as well as the light green and tan colored shirts. I believe the reason why they changed the red shirts, was probably because of a recent remodel to the store. My Ralphs received a remodel and on came the new shirts.

What did management say?

I find it difficult to believe that they simply shut down the program without notifying their customers. Maybe they did, I wasn't there. It just seems to me that there would have been some kind of notification that said when the rewards certificates expire.

Have you asked the managers? What did they tell you? I doubt that the company changed the employees' uniforms because of the new rewards program. They were likely revamping the stores and their processes.
