On  Saturday, July 25, 2015 I visited Kwik Kar Auto Service Center (525 Beltline Road Cedar Hill, Texas 75104) for an oil change and windshield wiper blades for my Infiniti QX4.  On Tuesday, July 28, 2015 following my commute to work in Denton County (I reside in Dallas County) I discovered my vehicle was smoking. My fiancé picked up the SUV and took it to a local automotive shop to determine the cause of the smoke.  Nothing was identified, thus the SUV was returned to me at work.  Upon arriving home (Dallas county), the SUV began to smoke again.  I raised the hood to identify the cause of the smoke and noticed a red shop rag (saturated with oil and gas) was trapped in the bottom of the SUV on the engine manifold. The SUV then caught on fire.  Fortunately, we were able to put the fire out without further damage to the vehicle.

I immediately contacted Kwik Kar and spoke with the manager Danny advising of their negligence and damage to my vehicle.  I was advised he would call the District Manager Roy Tessler (214) 779-4580 and would have him call me back.  On Wednesday, July 29, 2015 my car was taken to the dealership to assess the damages.  It was determined the fire damaged the brake booster, destroyed the O2 sensor and worsened a previous rear main seal oil leak.   The cost of repairs was estimated to be $434.96. I finally received a call from Roy Tessler on July 29, 2015. I advised Mr. Tessler of the location of the vehicle and emphasized Kwik Kar would be responsible for the damages associated with the fire due to their negligence.  He indicated he would visit the dealership first thing the next day to assess the damage.  On Thursday, I contacted the dealership to discover Kwik Kar had not visited to view the vehicle.  Thus, I instructed the Service Advisor to proceed with ordering the required parts so that the car could be repaired.  Kwik Kar/Roy Tessler along with “their “mechanic and several others  finally visited the dealership on  Friday, July 31, 2015 and agreed to pay the cost of the repairs and a oneday car rental.  At this time, I had already been without transportation for 3 days.

The dealership had issues obtaining the part, thus I was without transportation from July 29, 2015 through August 11, 2015.  I contacted the dealership on August 10, 2015 to determine if the repairs were completed and I was advised my car was being held for non-payment as Kwik Kar did not remit payment.  On August 11, 2015 I called Roy Tessler regarding the payment and he never returned my phone call.  I subsequently paid for the repairs and picked up my vehicle that afternoon.  The following Friday, August 17, 2015 I was advised by the dealership they finally received proof of payment from Kwik Kar -7 days following the repairs being paid.

In 2010, 2013 and 2014, we experienced issues with repairs at Kwik Kar and parts missing after the repairs.  Thus, we decided we would not allow them to do any more repairs to our vehicles.  We only trusted Kwik Kar to perform a simple oil change. Kwik Kar is under new management every three months due to customer service issues.  However, they don’t really have new managers. They simply move the existing managers from location to location.  In fact, they do not have certified mechanics (we learned this the hard way). Kwik Kar has no consideration for its customers and they have very poor customer service.  We never received a return call or an apology for the inconvenience or negligence.
