Saw a hard-to-find vehicle online and called about it. Salesman assured me it was in great shape, great tires, needed nothing. Took a major train trip to get it. Driver met me at train station and was nice.
Drove car 500 feet, and it was obvious the tires were terrible (one turned out to have a major gash and embedded nail) and all were badly cupped and extremely noisy. Sales Manager offered $100 towards replacement tires, telling me salesman should not have told me they were like new, but they were "good enough to pass inspection". Car had just passed PA state inspection, but inspection had been done by Kyner's themselves - letting car dealers do state inspections on their own inventory is an insane idea.
If I hadn't traveled hundreds of miles to get the car, I would have immediately left without buying it, but I made the mistake of trusting the dealer and their comments/inspection, and would have had to stay overnight to get a train back west the next day.
As I left the lot I found out the CD player was broken, and shortly thereafter found the OEM DVD system was broken and missing the remote and headphones. Numerous other issues with vehicle including two bent wheels, defective seat belt buckle that caused a dash warning light, missing cargo cover and various other problems and defects which were all shown on the first real inspection. Brakes and shocks also needed to be replaced.
$5500 car needed more than $2000 worth of parts and repairs (even with used parts) to get it close to right. Be sure to get a thorough independent inspection on any car at this dealership - I made the mistake of not doing that, and have more than paid for it.
