I received an email from the la fitness corporate office with an offer for my son to rejoin the gym for 0 money down, and $19.99 a month.  At the same time, JT kept calling my son to come to the gym and rejoin.  So I took my son to the la fitness last night to renew his membership.  Vernon came out to greet us, saying that JT was not there.  He began asking my son about his desire to renew his membership.


After a few minutes of listening to them talk, I revealed that I received an email stating the above offer.  Another man from the company joined us, didn't introduce himself, but came to listen to the discussion.  Once I revealed the offer from corporate, they both stated that they were not going to honor the deal from corporate and that I had to go home and sign up online.


I could see that they were not going to honor the offer, so asked if they would at least give my son a pass so that he could work out.  They both stated that they would not give him a pass.  So I pursued it, knowing that passes were certainly available for him to use.  Vernon and the other man insisted that they did not have any passes to give out, and that they would lose their jobs if they gave my son a pass.


I continued to press them, because I have seen passes being given out to people at that gym.  They told me that I needed to go hom and print out a pass for my son to use, then drive back to the gym.  Not once did they offer to give us a pass, or to use their bank of computers to get online and print out a pass.


I have been disgusted with this gym throughout my membership.  Most of their personal trainers are incompetent, they use used car salesman techniques to sell their memberships and personal training, their equipment is old and often has broken pieces, and the one time I swam in the pool there was a pile of poop in the pool!  No wonder they had a flu outbreak in the gym recently- due to the lack of sanitary conditions!


Another thing about the Garden Grove facility- there is little lighting in the parking lot and there has been a rash of car breakins.  The thief (or thieves) smash a window and grab what they can.  They again show no regard for the safety of their customers.


I cannot believe that a company would consistently show such arrogance to its customers!
